In an old interview from 2008, Akshaye explained the reason behind his decision. He said, “There are certain people you just shouldn’t work with. My father is one of them. It’s impossible to stand confidently in the same frame as him.”

He went on to elaborate, “His on-screen presence was incredibly powerful. Matching that kind of charisma is not easy. It’s either something you have, or you don’t — and I don’t think I have it. Some actors dominate the screen effortlessly. My father was one of them.”
