Composer & Singer A.R. Rahman Turns Actor, Reunites with Prabhu Deva After Three Decades in Tamil Film ‘Moon Walk’

Oscar-winning composer and singer A.R. Rahman is all set to appear as an actor alongside Prabhu Deva in the Tamil film Moon Walk. After nearly three decades, A.R. Rahman and Prabhu Deva have collaborated on a film once again. Earlier, the duo had worked together in films like Kadhalan, Mr. Romeo, Love Birds, and Minsara Kanavu.

Although acting is not entirely new for A.R. Rahman, as he has previously made cameo appearances in films such as Kadhal Virus, Bigil, Aaraattu, Maamannan, and Ayalaan, Moon Walk marks a significant shift. This time, Rahman will not be seen in a cameo but will play a substantial role. In the film, he portrays an “angry young film director,” essentially playing a version of himself.

The family-oriented and music-driven film Moon Walk is written and directed by Manoj Nirmala Sridharan, the founder and CEO of Behindwoods. Along with composing the music, A.R. Rahman has also sung all five songs in the film, including the Moon Walk Anthem Song. The anthem was released on November 19, 2025, and has already gained significant popularity.

Apart from A.R. Rahman and Prabhu Deva, the film features a large ensemble cast including Yogi Babu, Aju Varghese, Satz, Arjun Ashokan, Nishma Chengappa, Singampuli, Lollu Sabha Swaminathan, TSR Srinivasan, Ramr, Dr. Santhosh Jacob, Redin Kingsley, Sushmita Nayak, Rajendran, Deepa Shankar, and Ramkumar Natarajan.

Filled with energetic dance sequences and captivating musical compositions, Moon Walk revolves around dance. The story is set in the late 1980s and focuses on young people who learn breakdancing inspired by Michael Jackson, highlighting nostalgia for the era and the global influence of the pop icon.
