Sonakshi Sinha Slams Paparazzi Culture: The news of ‘Kaanta Laga’ fame actress Shefali Jariwala’s death left the industry and her fans in mourning. However, the way the media and paparazzi behaved during this sensitive time has upset many celebrities. Film actress Sonakshi Sinha has strongly criticized this growing ‘paparazzi culture’.
Shefali Jariwala's Death Sparks Media Ethics Debate
The passing of Shefali Jariwala (popularly known for ‘Kaanta Laga’) left a wave of grief across the film industry and among her fans. But the conduct of media and paparazzi during such a delicate time sparked outrage. As soon as the news broke, a crowd of photographers and media personnel gathered outside her residence and hospital.
Her husband Parag Tyagi was asked personal questions during this period of grief. He was also judged on social media for simply walking their pet dog during this difficult time. Witnessing this, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan first expressed his anger, and now actress Sonakshi Sinha has also come forward to criticize this insensitive paparazzi behavior.
In a recent interview, Sonakshi gave a sharp reaction to the issue. She said, "What has social media turned into? What has paparazzi culture become? You can’t even attend a funeral without getting clicked. I find that very strange. After a point, you have to learn to ignore such things and just live the way you want to. But it takes time to get used to it.”
Sonakshi’s statement raises an important question about today's media culture — does every moment need to be turned into clickbait? And has the concept of privacy for celebrities completely vanished?
Shared Her Experience with Body Shaming
In the same interview, Sonakshi also opened up about her personal experience with body shaming. She revealed that during her growing-up years, she didn’t have a role model who could teach her that it’s okay to embrace one’s real self.
"While growing up, I didn’t have anyone to guide me or tell me that it's perfectly okay to be just the way you are. There was no role model who could make me believe that confidence comes from your mindset, not your body," she said.
