A total of 72 films will be screened at the festival this year of which 38 will have their India premiere. The festival which has become one of the most awaited events for cinema campaigns for environmental awareness and promises a diverse selection of films highlighting a range of important environmental issues from climate change to wildlife conservation. What makes this year's edition truly special is ALT EFF's mission to take thought-provoking films that focuses on these burning topics away from traditional venues. This is the first time that the screening of these environmental films will be organized not only in metro cities but also in small towns and villages across India during the festival at 55 locations. This will be in addition to the 45 screenings taking place across 14 tier-1 cities. The objective of such efforts is to bring environmental awareness to the grassroots level in various regions and also ensure that the conversation about environmental protection and sustainability reaches every corner of the country. ALT EFF 2024 Expands to Non-Urban Areas with 72 Films Festival Director Kunal Khanna shares his excitement about this upcoming edition saying “We are thrilled to announce 2024 dates for ALT EFF and expand the screening of our films to non-urban areas. It is important to include communities beyond metro cities in these discussions and cinema has the power to connect people from different walks of life. Keeping in mind the diversity of languages in India this year we have used Eye to curate films made in regional languages as well as translate foreign language films into regional languages. With 38 Indian premieres and 72 extraordinary films, we are excited to create an inclusive platform that brings environmental issues to the fore and inspires audiences everywhere. Bollywood actress and renowned environmental activist Dia Mirza will serve as one of the esteemed jury members at ALT EFF 2024.
