The short film Fragile, led by Rajneesh Duggal and Amruta Khanvilkar, is a heartfelt effort to shed light on Fragile X Syndrome—a rare yet significant neurodevelopmental disorder still relatively unknown in India. A special screening of the film was recently held to spread awareness about this condition.
Several well-known faces from the film and television industry were present at the screening. Among those who attended were Rajneesh Duggal, Hiten Tejwani, Sharad Malhotra, Vicky Kaushal’s father Sham Kaushal, Rohit Roy, Sudhanshu Pandey, and Deepti Sadhwani, among others. All the celebrities appreciated the film and its purpose, calling it “a thought-provoking initiative.”
What the Celebs Had to Say
Rajneesh Duggal shared that making a film on this subject was like a “dream come true” for him, and he expressed his desire to spread awareness about the condition.
Hiten Tejwani admitted that he had no prior knowledge of the syndrome but learned about its seriousness through the film.
Producer Anand Pachigar emphasized that Fragile X Syndrome is a genetic neurodevelopmental disorder unfamiliar to most people in India, making awareness all the more essential.
Fragile has been produced under the banner of Flow Like Water Films and is supported by Rajneesh Duggal and Anand Pachigar. This is India's first film focused specifically on Fragile X Syndrome—a genetic neurodevelopmental disorder that affects children on mental, emotional, and social levels, posing serious challenges for them and their families.
The Storyline
In the film, Amruta Khanvilkar and Rajneesh Duggal portray the parents of a child named Aarav, who suffers from Fragile X Syndrome. The narrative follows their emotional journey of self-acceptance and struggle as they fight to ensure dignity, compassion, and equality for their son, things he rightfully deserves.
The film also portrays the societal stigma, ignorance, and insensitivity that families of children with this condition often face. The director has depicted these emotional layers with such authenticity and sensitivity that viewers are not only moved but also compelled to reflect.
With powerful performances, sensitive direction, and a much-needed message, Fragile has the potential to leave a lasting impact, not just on the film industry but on society as a whole.
