Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic television show Fauji, which was aired on Doordarshan, is now coming back with its sequel, Fauji 2. The show stars the well-known actress Gauahar Khan and businessman-turned-actor Vicky Jain. A notable aspect of this show is that it marks Vicky Jain’s television debut. The first episode of Fauji 2 was recently shot, and the makers also shared some glimpses from the shoot, where Gauahar and Vicky were seen in the kitchen together
During an interview, the show’s cast, Gauahar Khan and Vicky Jain, spoke with the media about their experiences working on the show, their characters, and the audience's response.
On the Show’s Response and TRPs
Gauahar: "We’re getting fantastic TRPs for the show. What's even more exciting is that it’s available not only on Doordarshan but also on the OTT platform Waves. As for the TRP, it’s reached 2.2 and is still rising. We’re really happy with how things are going."
Vicky: "We’re having a lot of fun while shooting, and the environment on set is very positive. I also found out that the repeat telecast, which airs at 11:30 AM, is also bringing in good TRPs."
On Their Bonding After Working Together for Nearly 100 Days
Vicky: "Our bonding is excellent. Honestly, the industry itself is quite close-knit, and everyone knows each other. Gauahar and I have known each other for a while. I’ve learned a lot from her since she’s such an experienced actress. I didn’t have any acting experience, but she’s been a wonderful co-actor, always teaching me something new, which I listen to very carefully."
Gauahar: "Despite not having any acting experience, Vicky is doing a great job. His understanding of the scenes and how intelligently he executes them is truly commendable."

On Acting Without Prior Experience
Vicky: "Yes, it has been difficult. When you try something new, challenges are inevitable. But what makes it easier is the team you work with, how they make you feel comfortable, and how they guide you through the entire process. It’s all about being natural. The best acting comes when you are simply yourself."
On the Responsibility of Wearing a Uniform for ‘Fauji 2’
Vicky: "It’s a huge responsibility to play a character in a uniform. You don’t want to make any mistake, especially when portraying a soldier. Our production team, led by Sandeep Singh, the creative head, our writers, and the entire cast, all work together to ensure that nothing we do might offend anyone. We want people to feel proud of our work. We also have Mr. Ashok, a former army officer and ex-brigadier, who guides us through every detail—from how the belt should be worn to how the cap should be positioned and even how the buttons are attached. Everything is checked meticulously before every scene. While it's a big responsibility, at the end of the day, it’s an entertaining show that portrays the life of soldiers, and that’s something the audience really enjoys."
On Watching the First Season of 'Fauji' Before Watching the Sequel
Gauahar: "Definitely! The first season of Fauji is available on the Waves OTT platform. It’s a great idea to watch it, especially if you want to understand the legacy of the show."
On Working with Ankita
Vicky: "I don’t have any scenes with Ankita, but she has scenes with the rest of the commandos. Since I play a doctor, most of my scenes are with Gauahar and the others."
What’s Coming Up in Future Episodes
Gauahar: "A lot of exciting things are going to happen. We’ve only aired 39-40 episodes so far, but there are over 150 episodes planned. Each episode will delve into the life story of every cadet, and there’s so much more to come!"
Fauji 2 is the sequel to the 1989 television show Fauji, which was a significant milestone in Shah Rukh Khan's career. The show is currently available on both DD National and the Waves OTT platform, where it continues to capture the audience's attention with its thrilling portrayal of army life.
This marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Fauji legacy, and the team behind Fauji 2 is hopeful that the sequel will continue to inspire and entertain viewers, just like the original did.
