Guru Dutt’s 100th Birth Anniversary: Pyaasa 4K Premiere, Film Series Planned

In July 2025, fans will celebrate Guru Dutt’s 100th birthday. They can enjoy his classic films in cinemas all over India. From August 8th to 10th, Ultra Media and Entertainment will showcase a special collection of his movies. The highlight will be the 4K restored version of Pyaasa. Along with this, audiences will also see other famous films like Aar Paar Chaudhvin Ka Chand, Mr. & Mrs. 55, and Baaz. This event will let young people discover Guru Dutt’s amazing talent in a big way.

The careful restoration of Pyaasa and other films has been done by NFDC-NFAI, ensuring that their beautiful music and heartfelt stories can be enjoyed for many years.

Sushilkumar Agrawal, the Managing Director and CEO of Ultra Media and Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which owns the rights to these films, stated, "Guru Dutt’s movies are classic works of art that have impacted many filmmakers and viewers over the years. We are proud to showcase his restored films so that both loyal fans and new viewers can experience the magic on the big screen."

Prakash Magdum the Managing Director of NFDC stated  “Restoring Guru Dutt’s films is not just about fixing old reels. It’s about protecting an important part of our history that represents the heart of Indian cinema. These films are being restored through the National Film Heritage Mission a program by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India. This ensures that Guru Dutt’s lasting vision continues to connect with audiences today and in the future.

This 100-year celebration, carefully organized by Ultra Media, honors the legendary filmmaker. It offers a special chance for movie lovers to explore the lasting vision and beautiful storytelling that established Guru Dutt as one of the greatest icons of Indian cinema.
