Amit Khanna Birthday Special: One man and so many men in him

He looked small in stature but was destined for something big! He started small with a distributor office in Delhi, during which time the great discoverer, Dev Anand, discovered him! His name was Amit Khanna. He was a bright, dynamic, dedicated and outspoken man, the kind of young man Dev Anand wanted in his company 'Navketan'!

Amit came to Bombay (it was not called Mumbai then). Dev straight away dumped all his responsibilities on him which were challenges for him and Amit was the kind of man who loved challenges, he knew how to manage things, anything and everything was possible for a man as long as he did it without any problems, without any fear, without any give up, armed with his will power which does not allow a man to surrender or give up!

Dev was very happy with his discovery. He knew his amazing ability to get things done and do whatever he wanted to do. It took Amit very little time to gain the complete trust of his boss and he became Dev's best servant, a person who never said no to him and a man who could test himself in the worst of times and situations!

Amit was very inspired by Dev as he used to forget whatever happened and move on without any thought about the past, Dev followed a perfect philosophy and that was “Har fikr ko dhoome me udta chala gaya”. Amit kept fighting and fighting to solve every problem faced by Dev until he reached a stage where Dev took him very seriously and left many of his important decisions in his hands as Dev knew that he was energetic, enthusiastic and always in a state of energetic excitement.

And when Amit wanted to fly, to become something, to make a name for himself, to stand on his own feet, Dev was the only person to stop him, but he gave him his blessings and left him to fly high and move ahead.

And then Amit grew up, he was a poet, and had written songs for some of Dev's films and some other films. He went a step further and challenged himself as a producer and made the film 'Mann Pasand' with Dev and his discovery, Tina Munim, who did not know then that she was going to play a very important role in her career, Amit also directed some films, which for some reason have still not been released, though now maybe even God does not know where those films have gone, in which corner they have been left to rust.

He soon became a very important young leader in the industry which needed a dynamic leader like him who could change with the times and make the industry realise the mistakes it had made and give his advice to anyone who wanted it.

He was the brain behind launching some of the biggest companies producing films and TV serials and he rose to the top as the director of Reliance Big Entertainment and took the new company from one success to another, until he realised that he had to make a niche for himself and decided to carve out a new future for himself even at this stage of his life. He is the man who inspired Big Films to launch the 'MAMI Festival' which spread its wings and was ready to fly high because of the support of Tina Munim, his one time heroine, who is the major mind behind every decision taken in Reliance, the group led by her husband Anil Dhirubhai Ambani.

And if you think that he has reached a stage from where he should take a few steps back, you are wrong, because this man knows no limits just like the man who first brought him to Bombay, the one and only Dev Anand and now it seems like every ending is just a new beginning for Amit and the journey has just begun as he still has miles to go and turn his new ideas and dreams into reality.

The pandemic has now stranded him in Delhi, where he was born and spent the early years of his life, until he met Dev Anand, the man who changed his life.
