Very sad news is coming from the Odia film industry. Senior Odia actor Uttam Mohanty passed away on Thursday night, 27 February 2025 during treatment at a private hospital in Delhi. He was 66 years old. The actor's family gave this information.

For your information, let us tell you that Uttam Mohanty (Veteran Odia actor Uttam Mohanty) was suffering from a serious liver disease and was brought to Delhi from Bhubaneswar on February 8. He is survived by his famous actress wife Aparajita Mohanty and son Odia cine star Babushan.
Odisha Chief Minister pays tribute to Uttam Mohanty
On the other hand, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid a heartfelt tribute to Uttam Mohanty on her demise. The Chief Minister wrote on the e-mail, "I am deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Odisha's popular actress Uttam Mohanty. Her demise has created a huge void in the Odia art sector. The mark she has left in Odia cinema will always keep her in the hearts of the audience. I pray for the peace of her soul and express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family". The CM also ordered that Mohanty's last rites be performed with full state honors.
Uttam Mohanty Career
Uttam Mohanty started his acting career in 1977 with the Oriya film Abhimaan and acted in more than 130 films. His best performances were in the films Nijhum Ratira Sathi (1979), Phoola Chandana (1982), Jhiyati Sita Pari (1983) and Danda Balunga (1984). He also acted in about 30 Bengali films and one Hindi film Naya Zahar. Mohanty also acted in some TV serials including Sara Akash. Mohanty won the prestigious Jaydev Award in 1999, besides the Odisha Living Legend Award in 2012. He won the Best Actor award at the Odisha State Film Awards several times during his career.
