Heer Express Trailer Launch: Divita Juneja Makes a Powerful Bollywood Debut with ‘Heer Express’! Ashutosh Rana Says – “Now, Gods and Demons Reside Within the Same Human”

Heer Express Trailer Launch: Renowned for films like OMG – Oh My God! and 102 Not Out, director Umesh Shukla launched the trailer of his new film Heer Express on Tuesday, July 15 in Mumbai. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Divita Juneja.

Trailer Launched in the Presence of the Star Cast

Heer Express, directed by Umesh Shukla — known for hit films like OMG – Oh My God! and 102 Not Out — had its trailer launched in Mumbai on July 15. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Divita Juneja, who plays the lead role of Heer. Opposite her, actor Prit Kamani will be seen in the male lead. Present at the trailer launch were debutante Divita Juneja, Prit Kamani, veteran actors Ashutosh Rana, Gulshan Grover, Sanjay Mishra, Meghna Malik, and director Umesh Shukla.

Debutante Divita Juneja Said:

Speaking at the trailer launch event, Divita Juneja, who plays the lead role of Heer in the film, said:
“Umesh sir is like a father figure to me. The faith he showed in me on the very first day gave me confidence in myself. 'Heer' is a bold character, while I am personally quite reserved, so I had to work hard on body language and voice modulation. I even learned horse riding and cooking. Perhaps that preparation is what’s reflecting naturally on screen.
She further added, “I am very excited about this film and also a bit nervous, but the entire team has supported me tremendously.”

Ashutosh Rana Praised the Young Talent

Veteran actor Ashutosh Rana said, “Every film is an opportunity for me to break myself and recreate anew. Umesh Shukla is a democratic dictator — he gives freedom, but pulls the reins when necessary. It was a pleasure working with young actors like Prit and Divita.”
He also praised ‘Batman’ Gulshan Grover, saying, “Gulshan is a supremely talented actor, and working with him was a joy.”

On the Language Controversy, Ashutosh Rana Responded:

Amid the ongoing Marathi vs. Hindi language debate in Maharashtra — especially after the recent appearance of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray on a shared stage — Ashutosh Rana was asked if such conflicts affect Bollywood.

He responded beautifully, saying in Marathi, “My wife is Marathi.” When asked what language they use at home amidst this outside turmoil, he said: “Language is a tool for communication, not a matter of conflict. India is a unique and mature country that embraces all things. India believes in dialogue, not dispute.” His answer was met with applause.

Gulshan Grover Said:

At the trailer launch of Heer Express, Gulshan Grover shared, “I’ve worked in debut films of Rani Mukerji, Kangana Ranaut, Bipasha, and Katrina. I played ‘Darji’ in Rani’s debut film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1997). In Divita, I see the same spark. She is super confident. I commend Umesh, Sanjay, and the entire team.”

He added, “I recently met Rani at IIFA. I hadn’t seen her, but she called out to me from behind and said — Darji! That one word shows what I’ve earned.”

“A Childhood Dream Come True” – Prit Kamani

Actor Prit Kamani said at the event, “Since childhood, I dreamt of becoming a Bollywood hero — and now that dream has come true. Every day on set was a learning experience. Umesh sir, who has directed legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, is now directing me — it’s a huge opportunity for me.”

Sanjay Mishra on His First Collaboration

Actor Sanjay Mishra shared, “This was my first time working with Umesh ji, and I was deeply impressed by his writing and vision. Divita and Prit both looked great in the trailer — I’m sure they will shine in the film too.”

Director Umesh Shukla Shared:

Umesh Shukla said,“My earlier films like OMG and 102 Not Out had no female protagonists, so this time I wanted to tell a strong woman-centric story. Divita worked hard on learning everything from horse riding to car repairing and cooking. I myself have learned a lot from both Divita and Prit — today’s youth have a bold and fresh perspective.”

Journalist Chaitanya Padukone Asked Divita:

At the event, senior journalist Chaitanya Padukone from Mayapuri asked Divita what she learned from experienced actors like Ashutosh Rana, Sanjay Mishra, and Gulshan Grover.

Divita replied:

“Working with them was like studying at a performing arts school. Every one of them is an institution in themselves. On the first day, I had a scene with Ashutosh Rana sir, and I was very nervous. But he guided me patiently, explaining every scene and even teaching me about camera angles. He felt more like an on-screen father than just a senior co-actor.”

She added, “Gulshan sir once told me something I’ll never forget — ‘If you want to survive in this industry, you need to be present not just on-screen but off-screen too.’ His belief and motivation meant a lot. Whenever I got nervous, he would come and say, ‘You’re ready. Don’t stress.’
Sanjay Mishra sir was the life of the set — his jokes and humor made every day special. Whenever I felt low, one of his jokes would brighten my day.”

On Villainy in Cinema — Insights by Grover and Rana

At the event, Gulshan Grover commented on the theme of villains in cinema: “With time, film stories have evolved. Change is a part of life — either embrace it or stay stagnant. Villain roles are now being written less.”

Ashutosh Rana added poetically: “In the Satyug (as per cinema), gods and demons lived in separate realms. In Treta Yug, they lived in the same era. In Dwapar Yug, they were part of the same family. Now in Kalyug, both god and demon reside within the same person. This is a continuing process.”

Jasbir Singh Bains Sang Live: Jasbir Singh Bains, known popularly as Jasbir Jassi, sang a song live during the trailer launch event of Heer Express.

Film Release Date & Credits

Heer Express is slated to release in theatres on August 8, 2025. It is directed and written by Umesh Shukla, a National Award-winning filmmaker. The screenplay is co-written by Sanjay Grover and Divyanshu Rawat, with Sampada Wagh as the co-producer.  The film is jointly produced by Merry Go Round Studios and Creative Strokes.
