Cannes Film Festival, where earlier there used to be discussion only about the fabulous clothes of celebrities, now it has also included discussion about some of the best talents of the country. 

Let us tell you that this time India has created history in the Cannes Film Festival. Payal Kapadia, Anasuya Sengupta, and FTII students have registered their names in the pages of history.

Payal Kapadia's 'All That We Imagine as Light' Wins Grand Prix at Cannes

This is the first time in 30 years that an Indian film has been awarded the Grand Prix. Payal Kapadia was awarded the Grand Prix for her film 'All That We Imagine as Light'. On this occasion, everyone had only one question why did it take so long for Indian films to be selected in the competition section at Cannes? In response to this question, Payal says, "Very interesting films are being made in India and I am also a part of it. Films are being made not only in Bollywood but in many states and many languages. Don’t know why it took us 30 years to reach here but I am very happy with the kind of cinema we have in India."

In her award acceptance speech, Payal says, "Cannes Film Festival, thank you very much for this award. Please do not make us wait for another 30 years for the next award." 

Let us tell you that Payal Kapadia's film 'All That We Imagine as Light' is the story of friendship between three women. Who understand and support each other. This story breaks the misconception of society that women can never be friends.

Actress Anasuya Sengupta of the film 'The Shameless' has created history by winning the Best Actress Award for her excellent performance. During an interview, Anasuya says that she hopes that this film and this character of hers will give hope to women to come forward and be able to come forward which is their real place.

Chidanand S Naik, Pune film institute student, bags 'La Cinef' award for  best short film at Cannes

Although FTII has already received awards for its films at the Cannes Film Festival, this is the first time that a student of FTII's Television course has received this honor. Let us tell you that ‘Sunflower Were the First Ones to Know’, a film by FTII students, has brought glory to India by winning the ‘La Cinef Award’ for the best short film. The film was directed by FTII student Chidanand S Naik and filmed by Sooraj Thakur.
