Javed Akhtar’s Life and Legacy
Javed Akhtar was born in 1945 in Gwalior. His father, Javed Akhtar, was a renowned poet, while his mother, Safia, was a prominent Urdu writer and professor. His grandfather, Muztar Khairabadi, was also a famous poet. Javed Akhtar’s first marriage was to Honey Irani, with whom he has two children, actor-producer-director Farhan Akhtar and producer-director Zoya Akhtar. He married the celebrated actress Shabana Azmi in 1984.
Javed Akhtar is often affectionately called "Jadoo" (Magic) by many, a name his father gave him. The name comes from a line in a famous poem: "Lamha lamha kisi jadoo ka fasana hoga" ("Every moment will tell a tale of magic").
