Married life is a mix of love, squabbles, and little clashes – and that’s what makes relationships truly beautiful. Jio Hotstar’s new show Pati Patni Aur Panga brings this very theme to audiences in a fun and relatable way. What makes the show special is that real-life couple – actress Swara Bhasker and politician Fahad Ahmad – are keeping their chemistry alive on screen as well. In a candid conversation, the two shared their experiences about the show, marriage, and balancing love with everyday challenges. Here are the highlights…

Is it easy or challenging to work together as husband and wife?

Swara – Honestly, in the beginning, it was quite tough. Fahad wasn’t ready at all. I had to insist, telling him – Let’s do this together, it’ll be a unique experience. And now look, he’s enjoying the show just as much! I feel this time brought us even closer as a couple. Of course, there was the initial worry of managing our daughter, balancing shooting with household responsibilities. But gradually we found a routine, and everything started to fall in place. Now I believe we’ve become a stronger team.
Fahad – To be honest, I refused at first. I thought acting and show business weren’t my area at all. But then I realized – Swara supports me everywhere, in every political campaign, rally, public meeting, without ever complaining. So I thought, if she does so much for me, why can’t I do one show for her? And now I feel I made the right choice. I’ve discovered a new side of myself here.

The show’s title itself is quite interesting. According to you, what’s the real “panga” in marriage?

Swara – The real panga in marriage is those little tiffs and quarrels. But honestly, I think these squabbles make the relationship more interesting. We often argue over small things, but every fight deepens our love even more. Sometimes there’s that sweet phase of reconciliation – like if I get upset, he comes to pacify me. I believe if there were no little fights, marriage would become boring and bland. These pangas are the real spice of marriage – they’re what make life fun!

Which of Swara’s roles do you like the most and why?

Fahad – I admire all of Swara’s roles because she always tries something new. But what I love most is her fearless and confident side. In Tanu Weds Manu, she had a natural charm, and in Veere Di Wedding, she portrayed a bold and unapologetic woman. I admire that she doesn’t just take “safe” roles – she constantly challenges herself. And I feel these qualities are not just on screen, but also what make her special in real life.

After becoming a mother, how did it feel to return to acting again?

Swara – It was one of the most emotional chapters of my life. When a baby is born, a mother is also born in a new form. I felt like I got to see the world of acting with fresh eyes. Earlier I would only think about my performance, but now I had my daughter to think of too. Taking her to the sets, feeding her during breaks, and then returning before the camera with fresh energy – it was a different kind of challenge. But this process made me stronger. I felt that motherhood deepened my craft as an actor.

If your roles were swapped – Swara in politics and Fahad in acting – how would that look?

Swara – I think Fahad gets a bit hesitant in acting, he feels shy to show his natural side before the camera. But if he really tried, his honesty and sincerity would reflect in his performances, and people would connect with his simplicity. As for me in politics, I think I could fit in because I enjoy debating, discussing issues, and presenting my views with conviction. I’m outspoken and confident I could connect with people as well.

Fahad – See, I run away from acting! I honestly don’t think I have the charm or screen presence that Swara does. She shines in front of the camera, while I get nervous. But if she enters politics, she’ll be excellent. She has leadership qualities, she knows how to raise her voice, and most importantly, she never compromises with the truth. I believe if she ever contests elections, people would definitely support her.

If you ever work with Swara on screen again, what role would you like to play?

Fahad – I think a romantic comedy would be perfect for us. One where there’s our constant banter, some romance, and a bit of drama too. I imagine us as a married couple who fight all the time but can’t live without each other. I’m sure audiences would love to see our real chemistry on screen and relate to it. And the truth is, as husband and wife, we can look more real on screen than any other couple possibly could.

When you return home from shoots and meet your daughter, how do those moments feel?

Swara – Those are the most precious moments of my life. The moment I get home, I give all my time to her – and all my stress disappears instantly. Her laughter, her innocence, brings such peace that I feel I need nothing else in the world. I make sure to keep my phone aside then, no distractions – just me and my daughter. These moments remind me why I work so hard in the first place.
