On Wednesday, September 10, a special screening of Manoj Bajpayee’s new film Jugnuma was organized in Mumbai. The film features actors like Deepak Dobriyal, Priyanka Bose, Hiral Sidhu, and Tillotama Shome. It has been directed by Raam Reddy.

At the Jugnuma screening, Manoj Bajpayee’s old friend and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) director Anurag Kashyap was spotted. Along with him, actors Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, and Vineet Kumar Singh were also present. During the event, all of them were seen touching Manoj’s feet as a mark of respect. The gesture left Manoj both emotional and slightly embarrassed. Not just them, Raj Nidimoru, who worked with Manoj in The Family Man series, also playfully sought blessings from him.

Manoj and Anurag’s Longstanding Friendship

Manoj Bajpayee and Anurag Kashyap’s friendship has always held a special place in the film industry. Their association dates back to the late 1990s. At that time, Anurag was working as a writer on Ram Gopal Varma’s film Satya (1998), in which Manoj delivered a memorable performance as Bhiku Mhatre. Later, the duo reunited for Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), leaving a lasting impression on audiences.

In an interview some time ago, Manoj spoke about Anurag, saying that he has stood firm because of his strong convictions. In the process, he has made many enemies, broken his hand in anger, fallen ill, but has never wavered from his stance. According to Manoj, Anurag is an example for all filmmakers—people should study his journey and learn from it.

Jugnuma to Release on September 12

It is worth noting that Manoj Bajpayee’s Jugnuma will release in theaters on September 12. The film has been directed by Raam Reddy. This is his second film; earlier, he directed the National Award-winning Kannada film Thithi in 2016. Producers Guneet Monga Kapoor (Guneet Monga Kapoor) and Anurag Kashyap are associated with Jugnuma as executive producers.
