The 107th birth anniversary of celebrated poet and iconic Hindi film lyricist Kaifi Azmi was observed on Wednesday, January 14. On this occasion, a grand celebration was held with great enthusiasm at Fateh Manzil in his ancestral village Mejwan. People paid floral tributes to his statue and pledged to follow the path shown by him. Audio recordings of his famous nazms recited at mushairas were also played. Several well-known personalities from the film industry attended the event.

The program was hosted by Kaifi Azmi’s daughter and veteran actress Shabana Azmi, accompanied by her husband, renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar.

Kaifi Azmi was a legendary poet and one of Bollywood’s finest lyricists. He passed away in 2002 at the age of 83. However, his songs remain timeless and continue to be loved by audiences. He received several prestigious awards for his work, including Filmfare Awards and the Padma Shri. Kaifi Azmi was the father of veteran actress Shabana Azmi.
