Kesari Chapter 2 Screening: On Monday, April 15, 2025, a special screening of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Kesari Chapter 2 was held in New Delhi. The event saw the presence of the film's star cast along with several prominent political figures, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur.
Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 Set for Release Soon
For the past few years, Akshay Kumar has been consistently delivering films with strong patriotic themes. His much-awaited film Kesari Chapter 2 is all set for release soon. The movie stars R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday alongside Akshay Kumar, and audiences have been eagerly anticipating its release.
However, before the official release, a special screening was hosted on Monday, April 15, 2025, at Chanakyapuri Theatre in New Delhi, organized by the film’s producers. The screening was attended by the film's lead cast and several political dignitaries, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Kapil Mishra, and BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, among others.
CM Rekha Gupta’s Emotional Response
After watching the film, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta appeared visibly emotional. She shared how deeply the film impacted her, saying:
“It’s a brilliant film. I’ve only seen a small part and already want to watch it again. I always say—we may not get the opportunity to die for our country, but we can certainly start living for it. The way this film has portrayed the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and how millions gave their lives for our freedom, yet their names were lost in history—it’s painful. Today, as we breathe in a free India, our responsibility is to live for our nation, to act for its betterment.”
She concluded by reciting lines from a powerful poem: “Tan samarpit, man samarpit, aur yeh jeevan samarpit, chahti hoon desh ki dharti tujhe kuch aur bhi doon, kuch aur bhi doon.” (“With my body, my soul, and my life dedicated to this land, I wish to give you even more, O motherland.”)
Akshay Kumar on Portraying C. Sankaran Nair
Wearing a sharp grey suit, Akshay Kumar—who plays the legendary barrister C. Sankaran Nair, known for taking on the British Empire after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre—spoke with the media:
“We are extremely grateful to Hardeep Singh Puri sir for organizing and hosting this special screening. I truly hope people like the film. I’m thankful and happy that Prime Minister Modi is aware of the movie and has acknowledged it—that’s very kind of him. I sincerely hope the British government watches the film and reflects on what really happened.”
When asked if he was familiar with C. Sankaran Nair before the film, Akshay candidly replied:
“No, I didn’t know anything about him. I only knew about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre—whatever was in the history books. But they never told us what happened after that.”
He added that even though his grandfather had told him stories about the massacre, he too didn’t know the events that followed.
PM Modi Praises C. Sankaran Nair
Just a day earlier, on April 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a gathering in Haryana, praised C. Sankaran Nair for his courageous stance against the British Raj following the Jallianwala tragedy. “He could have enjoyed every comfort of life. But after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, he stood against British oppression and was removed from his post. Though he was from Kerala and the incident occurred in Punjab, Nair brought the British to trial. He exemplified unity and humanity. We must learn from his courage,” said PM Modi. In response, Akshay Kumar shared a video of the PM’s speech on social media and expressed his gratitude.
R. Madhavan on Playing a British Lawyer
Actor R. Madhavan, who portrays Neville McKinlay, a British lawyer defending the Empire in court after the massacre, called the film one of the most meaningful in his career:
“I’ve been fortunate to be part of several historical films based on real events, but this is perhaps the most significant one. The message is crystal clear—we are a proud nation, and our people are extraordinary. The time to underestimate Indians is over.”
Political Voices React to the Film
Manjinder Singh Sirsa (Delhi Minister)
“Before the youth watch this film, I urge every Congress member to see it. They will understand how erasing C. Sankaran Nair’s legacy from history is nothing short of a crime. Congress was no less responsible for what happened at Jallianwala Bagh than the British.”
Kapil Mishra (Delhi Minister)
“This is an outstanding film. Jallianwala Bagh is a key chapter in India’s freedom movement, and very few know the complete truth. This film presents that truth clearly—everyone must watch it.”
Hardeep Singh Puri (Union Minister)
“I hope the youth watch this film and feel inspired. I don’t want to politicize it, but I must point out how Congress has focused solely on promoting its family while forgetting the real heroes of our nation.”
About the Film
