Manoj Kumar Last Rites:  The legendary actor of Hindi cinema, Manoj Kumar, known for his iconic roles in films like Purab Aur Paschim, Upkar, Roti Kapda Aur Makan, Shor, Sanyasi, Shaheed, and Kranti, was cremated today at the Van Hans Crematorium in Mumbai with full state honors. The actor, fondly known as Bharat Kumar, passed away on Friday, April 5, at the age of 87 after a prolonged illness.

Before his final rites, Manoj Kumar’s mortal remains were draped in the Indian tricolor, and his ambulance was decorated with flowers in the colors of the Indian flag, symbolizing the patriotism he always carried. The procession was met with a 21-gun salute as the nation bid farewell to a true patriot.

Among them were Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, screenplay writer Salim Khan, actor Arbaaz Khan, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, actor Prem Chopra, music composer Anu Malik, actors Chunky Pandey, Bhagyashree, Dharmendra, Raj Babbar, filmmaker Subhash Ghai, singer Zubin Nautiyal, actors Rajpal Yadav, Vindu Dara Singh, Raza Murad, Zayed Khan, and Maharashtra Minister Pratap Sarnaik, along with several fans of the late actor.

Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, both seen in white kurtas and black jackets, paid their emotional tributes to Manoj Kumar. The iconic actor, Big B, also shared a heartfelt embrace with Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan, as they bid goodbye to the legendary actor.

Prem Chopra’s Heartfelt Words

Actor Prem Chopra, deeply saddened by the loss of his dear friend, said, “We were together from the start. It has been a wonderful journey. Working with him was a privilege for everyone, and I learned so much from him. He was one of my best friends, and I can honestly say he was among my closest friends.”

Raj Babbar’s Tribute and Call for Bharat Ratna

Raj Babbar, actor and politician, expressed his grief after attending the funeral, saying, “The Indian film industry has lost a gem who honored the nation’s glory, freedom fighters, and patriots through his films. He showcased India’s pride to both the country and the world. He was a writer, actor, director, and an incredible human being. His love and affection earned him a place in the hearts of the people. I remember seeking his blessings before starting the shoot of ‘Shaheed Udham Singh.’ He inspired me, and he should have received the Bharat Ratna. He deserves it.”

Subhash Ghai Calls Manoj Kumar a Legend

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who attended the funeral, called Manoj Kumar a legend. He shared, “He was a true inspiration for all of us. Through his films, he instilled a sense of patriotism and taught us what India stands for and how it should be.”

Anu Malik’s Emotional Tribute

Music composer-singer Anu Malik, deeply moved by Manoj Kumar’s passing, stated, “The films he made were for the betterment of society and the nation. Such individuals don’t come often. We should take inspiration from his films, songs, and direction. I am deeply emotional, as is the entire nation. It’s a huge loss, and a great artist has left us.”

Rajpal Yadav Pays His Respects

Actor-director Rajpal Yadav also shared his tribute, saying, “He was India’s world art gem. He is truly a Bharat Ratna. I salute him. He was a priceless gem of Bollywood and will always remain one.”

Zayed Khan said, “He was one of the first major actors and superstars of our country. He left behind a legacy that shows how a person should conduct themselves and how to present oneself in difficult circumstances. To become a star like him, one must carry India’s soul within, and that’s exactly what he did.”

Maharashtra Minister Pratap Sarnaik also paid his respects, saying, “Artists like Manoj Kumar will not be found in the industry anymore. I have been a fan of his since childhood. Though I am a state minister now, I have come here as a friend. He was an artist who had India in his heart. On behalf of my family and the Maharashtra government, I pay my heartfelt tributes to him.”

A Legacy That Lives On

Manoj Kumar’s career spanned over 45 films, and he became most beloved for his patriotic roles. Many of the films he directed reflected the spirit of the country. It’s because of this that he was affectionately called Bharat Kumar. He was honored with the Padma Shri in 1992 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015 for his contribution to Indian cinema.

Although Manoj Kumar has now been laid to rest, his memories will forever live on in the hearts of his fans and loved ones. The way he was bid farewell today speaks volumes about the legacy he built throughout his life. He will always be remembered as a true icon of Indian cinema.
