Your roles have always been intense and realistic. How was your experience stepping into the world of horror-comedy this time?

When you get a character that’s outside your comfort zone, it’s always a big challenge — and I think every actor enjoys taking on such challenges. That’s why I was really excited about this role. Although I had glimpsed that world during the shoot, now that the film is ready, it’ll be interesting to see how that world actually looks on screen. Our excitement is just as high.

Were there any specific horror or vampire films that inspired your performance for this role?

No, this time I deliberately didn’t take any reference. I had complete faith in my director. He guided me in every scene — from tone to expression. So honestly, my contribution is less, and the director’s is much more.

How was your on-screen chemistry with Ayushmann in the film?

My experience was terrible! [laughs] Only because he hit me once and broke my fake tooth! But honestly, he kept apologizing afterward. He even sent flowers to my home — probably more than he sends to his wife!

Do you still get roles that surprise audiences, and how satisfied are you with your work today?

Every actor wants to do something new with every film so that they don’t get bored themselves. If you keep getting the same kind of roles, you’ll lose interest. Of course, not every film becomes a hit or every character connects, but the effort is always to try something different. Sometimes films don’t work, or the team isn’t able to take the film to the right audience — that happens too. Especially with smaller films, it’s heartbreaking when your work doesn’t get the proper release or showtimes. But when you work with a team that’s expert in their respective fields, you feel confident that you’ve done your job sincerely — and the rest will fall into place.
