Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin has taken a dig at mild criticism of Prabhas' less screen time in the first half of the film A section of Prabhas' fans have pointed out that the actor is barely present for "20 minutes" in the first half of Kalki 2898 AD, while Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone's characters are in focus for most of the part Now in an interview, director Nag Ashwin has addressed the complaints and whether he had any discussions with Prabhas before casting him in the film
Prabhas remained in favor of the story
Ashwin said, "I don't think we had any such discussions. For a star of his stature, Prabhas is very rarely bothered by such things. He is completely in favor of the story. Once he heard the story and we asked for some changes, he was completely involved and very supportive." Ashwin further added, "Like, I think looking back, I think it was a big deal for a mainstream actor to be hit by another actor; living in a world where all these actors can't even touch each other because of their talent and skill, other actors wanted to be hit by Amitabh Bachchan. It was great that he was telling Amitabh sir, 'Sir, hold me tight'."
The shooting of the sequel is almost complete
Kalki 2898 AD has grossed over Rs 700 crore globally within a week of its release, and the shooting of the second part of the film is also about to be completed. Ashwin also hinted that while Kamal Haasan has a limited role in Kalki 2898 AD, the sequel will be the show of the Tamil superstar. Haasan plays Supreme Yaskin, an autocratic ruler overseeing a resource-rich complex. “It's completely the antithesis of that,” Ashwin said.
