Rajkumar Hirani, Shoojit Sarkar, Anjali Menon and Onir are creating the second part of the popular Indo-Australian anthology ‘My Melbourne’. After the tremendous success and appreciation of the first part of ‘My Melbourne’, now its second part is going to be made officially. This special Indo-Australian film project is being produced by Mind Blowing Films and presented by the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. It aims to celebrate the cultural diversity between India and Australia and bring the two countries closer through cinema.

Rima Das & Imtiaz Ali’s Film Wins at UK Festival

The first version was released in India and Australia in March 2025, in which filmmakers like Rima Das, Onir, Imtiaz Ali and Kabir Khan created stories on topics like identity, gender, race, sexuality and disability. The film touched audiences across the world and also won the Best Film award at the UK Asian Film Festival.

Now the second part has been officially announced, which includes four big filmmakers – Rajkumar Hirani, Anjali Menon, Shoojit Sircar and once again Onir.

Mitu Bhowmick Lange

Mitu Bhowmick Lange, CEO of Mind Blowing Films, said on this occasion, “The success of My Melbourne has been very special for us. It has proved that stories told with truth and heart transcend boundaries. We are proud that such big names of Indian cinema are joining this project. This initiative is a celebration of creativity and inclusiveness between India and Australia and also gives us an opportunity to bring forth new talent from underprivileged communities.”

Rajkumar Hirani

Rajkumar Hirani said, “I am very excited to be a part of this project, which connects diverse human experiences through cinema and brings together two cultural heritages.”

Anjali Menon

Anjali Menon said, “The purpose and themes of My Melbourne are close to my heart. I have always loved stories that connect and create understanding among people. I am extremely happy to be a part of this cross-continent journey.”

Shoojit Sarkar

Shoojit Sarkar said, “Storytelling knows no boundaries. My Melbourne is an effort to show that local stories can have a global impact. It is an honour to be a part of this cross-cultural dialogue.”

Onir

Onir, who was also a part of the first part, said, “Returning for the second chapter is like taking an unfinished story forward. Working with new subjects and new voices is very inspiring for me.”

With this amazing team of veteran filmmakers, the next chapter of ‘My Melbourne’ will also be full of deep, emotional and socially relevant stories that will further strengthen the relationship between India and Australia.
