The sensational trending viral third song ‘Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam’ from maverick musical comedy movie Bad Newz produced by ‘showman’ Karan Johar is a classy recreated version of  National Award-winning genius composer Anu Malik's original chartbuster composition from the 1998 film Duplicate. The new recreated version features Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk competing for vivacious Tripti Dimrii's affection,! While the original song version from ‘Duplicate’  had Sonali Bendre and Juhi Chawla trying to seductively grab hero Shah Rukh Khan’s romantic attention on-screen  The vibrant vocals of the original song are by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan and it has this catchy “a capella” vocal rhythmic filler effects in composer Anu Malik’s voice.

This timeless song has now been recreated 26 years later by Lijo George and DJ Chetas for Karan Johar’s ‘Bad Newz’ releasing this Friday, July 19th, 2024 and is co-produced by Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Manish Menghani and directed by Anand Tiwari.

Speaking to me exclusively on phone, legendary sangeetkaar Anu Malik reacted to the recreated version. Enthused the ( three Filmfare Awards winner) frank modest Anu,” "It feels so surreal and so blessed to listen once again to the timeless music and song ‘Mere Mehboob’ I created 26 years ago. That this song is still being showered with so much love being incorporated in the latest Dharma production ‘Bad Newz’. I fondly remember I was creating and humming this tune in the year 1998 during the ‘music-sitting’ to everyone in the room. Those present included ‘late’ famous producer Yash Johar, director Mahesh Bhatt-saab, lyricist Javed Akhtar-saab and of course music-savvy Karan Johar there were rapturous claps from everyone. These rapturous claps are resonating and resounding even today. I dared to experiment using my rhythmic vocal sounds, as a ‘filler’ in the ‘Mere Mehoob’ song Mukhdaa, which is technically called "a capella". Perhaps used for the first time in Hindi film music... In fact, lyricist Javed-saab, has gone on record that I composed the ‘Mere Mehboob’ song-mukhda in just 'five' seconds !.. Let me also share that it was yet again a great honor for me, that legend Karan Johar also used the original track recorded in my voice from the  yesteryear hit song‘Aaja Mere Gaadi Mein Baith Jaa "  (‘Miss 420’- movie year 1998) composed by me for his previous mega-hit movie ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ (2023) directed by him

The versatile music composer-singer Anu Malik ( of ‘Baazigar, ‘Refugee’, ‘Main Hoon Na’ and ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ music fame)  added that, "Never ever imagined that a smart young boy Karan Johar, (who was then helping his producer-father Yash Johar who I remember was enjoying and clapping at the process of creation, would use it in future for his upcoming blockbuster Bad Newz, after 26 long years.
