Rekha and Mahima Chaudhry Steal the Spotlight at ‘Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi’ Screening

‘Pardes’ fame Mahima Chaudhry and Sanjay Mishra starrer ‘Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi’ has now hit the theatres. Before the release, a special screening was held in Mumbai, which saw the presence of Bollywood’s evergreen diva Rekha, producer Boney Kapoor, and several other well-known personalities. Rekha’s presence truly added charm and grace to the event.

At the special screening, Mahima Chaudhry was seen wearing a beautiful golden saree. She completed her look with matching golden jewellery, making her overall appearance elegant and glamorous. Her confidence and grace were clearly visible as she posed for the cameras.

Rekha Once Again Cast Her Magic

Rekha attended the event wearing a white suit paired with a printed dupatta. Even at the age of 71, her classic style stood out—black sunglasses, red lipstick, and sindoor in her hair parting made her iconic look even more striking.

During the event, Mahima Chaudhry jokingly said to Rekha, “I have gotten married for the second time,” to which Rekha smiled and replied, “Whether it’s the first marriage or the second, I am married to life.” Hearing this, Mahima instantly reacted saying, “Wow, that’s how it should be.” Rekha further added, “Marriage is another name for love. If there is love, there is marriage—and if there is marriage, there is love.” Rekha’s words won everyone’s heart.

Other Guests at the Screening

Apart from Rekha and Mahima, the film’s cast members Shrikant Verma, Praveen Singh Sisodia, Vyom Yadav, and Pallak Lalwani were also present at the special screening. However, the film’s lead actor Sanjay Mishra could not attend the event.

Anu Ranjan and Shashi Ranjan were also spotted at the screening. Anu Ranjan looked elegant in a black dress, while Shashi Ranjan appeared classy in a coat-suit. Film producer Boney Kapoor was also part of the evening.

She also revealed that while working on her film ‘Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar’, she drew inspiration from Rekha’s style somewhere along the way. Mahima admitted that Rekha’s elegance, saree draping, and classic charm are so influential that it is impossible to ignore them.

Mahima Chaudhry also praised her co-actor Sanjay Mishra. She said that he is an outstanding actor, and since he was born and brought up in Banaras, portraying the character came naturally to him. For Mahima, however, it was challenging to match up to such a powerful and experienced performer. According to her, sharing screen space with Sanjay Mishra was a great learning experience.

Mahima Chaudhry expressed her concern regarding a smoking scene in the film. She said she did not want to send a wrong message to the younger generation. Therefore, she suggested to the director that whenever her character lights a cigarette, she should say that she is quitting smoking. Mahima wanted her character to give up smoking by the end of the film so that the audience receives a positive message.

What Is the Film’s Story

Set against the backdrop of Banaras, the film revolves around Murli Prasad (Vyom Yadav), who lives with his widowed father Durlabh (Sanjay Mishra), a salon owner, and his uncle (Shrikant Verma). Murli is in love with Mahak (Pallak Lalwani), but her family refuses to get her married into a house with no woman.

To resolve this, Murli decides to get his widowed father married again. In this journey, he faces social norms, traditions, and even his father’s resistance. Meanwhile, Durlabh reunites with his former love, Babita (Mahima Chaudhry). The story then unfolds around whether Murli can bring the two together and pave the way for his own marriage.

Since its release, ‘Durlabh Prasad Ki Dusri Shadi’ has been receiving a positive response at the box office. Audiences are appreciating the film’s story, performances, and emotional connect.
