Salman Khan Did a Huge Favor for Aamir Khan

Salman Khan fondly referred to as "Bhai," is undoubtedly one of the country's most beloved superstars. Apart from his iconic on-screen presence, he's also known for his kind and helpful nature. Salman’s generosity is well-known, and recently Aamir Khan revealed that it was Salman Khan who played a key role in securing the title for his film Dangal.

During a press conference, Aamir Khan shared this interesting story and expressed his gratitude to Salman. He said, "There’s one more thing I’m really thankful to Salman for, and that is the title of Dangal. I don’t know if you know this, but the title of Dangal was already written into our script. When we checked, we found out that the rights to this title were held by Puneet Issar." (Puneet Issar is an actor and director. He played the role of ‘Duryodhan’ in B.R. Chopra’s iconic TV series Mahabharat. Salman Khan and Puneet share a very special bond, evident from the fact that at Salman’s request, Puneet appeared on the Bigg Boss show. Apart from this, Salman and Puneet have also worked together in films like Sanam Bewafa, Partner, and Ready. In addition, Puneet directed Salman Khan's 2004 film Gharv.)

Aamir further explained, "I knew Salman and Puneet were quite close, so I called Salman and asked him if he could arrange a meeting between Puneet and me. Salman then called Puneet and told him that I needed the title. This was around the time when Salman was working on Sultan. People used to say that we were in a race because both our films, Dangal and Sultan, were based on wrestling. But that was not the case. Salman helped us. It was because of Salman that we got the Dangal title."

He added, "After Salman’s call, Puneet and I met. Puneet was very sweet and said, 'I’m not using this title, you can have it.' And that's how we got the Dangal title."

For those who may not know, Dangal, starring Aamir Khan, was released in 2016. The film also featured Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, and Zaira Wasim. The movie became a massive hit. Meanwhile, Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma’s Sultan, which was also released in 2016, earned over 600 crore rupees worldwide. Interestingly, both films were based on wrestling.

Work Front

On the work front, Salman Khan is set to make a big return to the big screen on Eid 2025 with his film Sikandar. The film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by A.R. Murugadoss. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan will be seen in Stars on Earth, which is set to release on December 25, this Christmas.
