Salman Khan Launches ISRL Season 2: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently inaugurated the second season of the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL). Not only is he promoting the league as its ambassador, but he has also joined it as an investor. During the launch event held in Mumbai, Salman emphasized the importance of safety in motorsports and highlighted the necessary precautions to be taken during racing.

Salman Talks About His Passion for Riding

At the event, Salman opened up about his long-time love for riding. He said, “I’ve always been a rider. From bicycles to motorcycles, I’ve enjoyed them all. However, I don’t ride as much these days. There aren’t many opportunities to race on the road, and it’s not just unsafe for you, but also for the people around you.”

Riding Safely at His Farmhouse

He shared how he continues to pursue his passion for riding safely at his farmhouse, where customized tracks have been created. “I ride with full safety gear at my farmhouse,” he said, “but I don’t do a lot of jumps because I still have to go back to shoot. If I get injured, I might miss three or four months of filming.”

Lack of Infrastructure in India

Salman also pointed out a major issue — the lack of proper infrastructure for motorsports in India. He stated, “There’s immense potential for sports in our country. India has a large population, and we sell the most bikes and scooters here. But there’s hardly any place for kids and youth to pursue biking, motocross, or supercross. There’s no proper infrastructure. If they want professional training, they have to go abroad. Why can’t we have those facilities here? We can build leagues, train riders, provide bikes and setups. Only then can we dream of winning world championships from India.”

When Salman Built a Bike Himself

During the launch, Salman shared a personal story from his early days. He recalled, “I had a friend named Salim, who was once in the movies. I saw an engine lying around and thought I’d build a whole bike myself. At that time, there was a stuntman named Dilawar Khan — both of them are no more. I took the engine from Salim, got tires from Maharashtra Garage, and built the whole bike. My father’s car was being painted then, so I took the mudguard and tank from it and used them. It took me a month and a half to complete the bike.”
He laughed and added, “The day I first rode the bike, Salim saw me and said — ‘Is this the same engine I gave you?’ The next day, he came and dumped the bike in a lake at Film City. That was the end of it. I only got to ride it once — after all that hard work.”

Did Salman Do Bike Stunts in Films?

When asked if he performed bike stunts in films, Salman replied, “Yes, absolutely. But most of my practice was on Juhu Beach. Bobby Deol was also training at the time. He wasn’t that interested in stunts, especially jumping off ramps, so I’d do them. We trained in horse riding and biking. Even now, we have ramps at the farmhouse where I ride bikes on dams and dirt tracks.”

Speaking About Social Media

Salman also addressed his social media habits, saying that his love for bikes came from his father, Salim Khan. On social media trends and his posts, he said, “Whatever I need to post, I post. I don’t even look at the comments. Most of the film-related posts, I do myself. Some are done by the team. But for followers and fellow actors’ work, I do post. The organic posts are mostly by me.”

Fan Moment

At the end of the event, Salman signed T-shirts for his young fans.
