Maddock Films unveiled the trailer of its latest horror-comedy universe film Thamma. Produced under Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Universe banner, the film is part of Shraddha Kapoor’s popular Stree universe. At the trailer launch event, ‘Stree’ Shraddha Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Thamma producer Dinesh Vijan, Amar Kaushik, director Aditya Sarpotdar, and Niren Bhatt were all present. The event also featured the infamous Stree ka Sirkata (headless man), with whom Ayushmann and Shraddha were seen having fun.
Shraddha’s Fiery Red Look
At the trailer launch event, Bollywood’s ‘Stree’ Shraddha Kapoor turned heads in a bright red saree. She completed her look with a long braid, glossy makeup, a statement neckpiece, and her million-dollar smile. Ayushmann Khurrana, on the other hand, looked dashing in a leather jacket paired with a shirt and jeans.
Shraddha Says – We Are Building Our Own Indian Universe
Speaking at the trailer launch, Shraddha Kapoor said: “Back in 2018, when I entered this universe, I never thought that a film like Stree would become so popular and receive so much love. When Dinesh sir (Dinesh Vijan) and Amar sir (Amar Kaushik) offered me the film, I was very excited. The love you gave us made Dinesh sir expand his vision. Then came Bhediya, Munjya, and now Thamma. It’s going to be so much fun. This is something truly special for me.”
Will Shraddha Be Seen in Thamma?
When asked if she would appear in Thamma, Shraddha replied, “Let it remain a suspense.” When asked who her favorite Stree is, since she has become the most loved Stree of the universe, Shraddha said, “My mother. For all of us, our mothers are the most important.”
Ayushmann’s Poetic Introduction
At the trailer launch, lead actor Ayushmann Khurrana introduced himself in a poetic style. He declared that Maddock’s horror universe is not just the biggest in the North or South but the entire country. He also shared his excitement, saying, “For the first time, one of my films is releasing on Diwali, and I am very happy about it.”
Ayushmann further added: “This film is very special to me. I always wanted to be part of the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe. It’s the most loved universe in the history of Indian cinema. As an ordinary man surrounded by extraordinary things, supernatural forces—without knowing what to do with them—it feels so unique. With Thamma, this world is moving forward into its next chapter. It’s truly exciting and new for me.”
Rashmika’s Message
The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna. However, she couldn’t attend the event and apologized to fans through a video message, assuring them that she will definitely take part in the film’s promotions.
Dinesh Vijan on Creating the Horror Universe
At the trailer launch, producer Dinesh Vijan spoke about building the horror universe: “We sowed a seed with Stree in 2018. We thought of giving this universe its own identity, including Munjya, Bhediya, and Sirkata.”
On the importance of songs in the film, he said: “Having songs is a good thing and necessary, but what song, where, when, and how it is used is more important.”
Stree to Get an Animated Film
At the event, it was announced that Stree will also be released in an animated format. Shraddha Kapoor shared the news: “This is my favorite part. Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe is coming up with an animated film called Chhoti Stree, which will be released in cinemas. It’s for kids and families. This is an exciting time for audiences.” The makers have not yet revealed the cast of Chhoti Stree.
Dinesh Vijan on Chhoti Stree
Talking about the project, producer Dinesh Vijan said: “It will end with a scene from Stree 3. It has been conceptualized by Amar Kaushik and Niren Bhatt. It will shift from animation to live-action and will tell the backstory. You won’t have to wait too long. It will release six months before Stree 3.”
Notably, Stree 3 is officially set to release on August 13, 2027. Chhoti Stree is expected to release either at the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.
By way of introduction, Thamma marks the fifth installment in Maddock’s expanding horror-comedy universe. Featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles, the film is directed by Munjya fame Aditya Sarpotdar and is set to release in theatres on October 21, 2025.
