The reality show The 50 has been making headlines these days. After getting evicted from the show, contestant Sumaira Shaikh spoke openly about her eviction, the format of the show, groupism, and the ongoing debate between internet creators and TV celebrities. In this interview, Sumaira not only shared her personal experience but also gave her honest opinion on the fight between Digvijay Rathee and Rajat Dalal, the content created around Elvish Yadav’s name, and the overall unfairness of the show. Let’s take a look at what she had to say.

This was your first reality show. How was the experience?

It was very difficult for me. This was my first reality show, and honestly, I had no idea how things actually work inside. Stepping out of my comfort zone, living with strangers, and being cut off from familiar people was mentally exhausting. As an audience, we often wonder how people can fight for so long without any real topic. But once you are inside, you realize that this too is an art. Fighting for 15–20 minutes and still entertaining the audience is not easy at all.

What did you feel about the concept of having 50 contestants?

Initially, I thought that since there were 50 people, I would get enough time to settle in and slowly feel comfortable. But that didn’t happen. The show was very fast-paced, and contestants were getting eliminated very quickly. Everyone feels that someone weaker than them will go first, but in my case, I was the one who got eliminated early.

Did you notice any difference between big names and new contestants?

Big names are usually in their comfort zone because they come with strong groups and support systems. Solo players like me are constantly anxious, wondering when they might get eliminated.

However, I believe that in the end, it will be equally difficult for those big groups, because they will eventually have to fight among themselves. That is when the real personalities will come out.

You received a lot of support despite staying for a short time. What would you like to say about that?

My stand-up audience mostly watches me online, but television has a massive audience base. People do TV shows to reach that larger audience. However, building a fan base on television is not easy. If someone has strong TV fans, it means they have worked very hard to earn that support.

What is your opinion on the content created around Elvish Yadav’s name?

Elvish Yadav is not a small name. He has worked very hard on the internet, has a strong fan base, and his friends were also part of the show. When friends are inside the house and rivalries begin, his name is bound to come up. Fans of his friends, like Lovekesh Kataria, enjoy watching all this. For their audience, it is entertaining content.

Couples versus solo players — do you think this is unfair?

In the beginning, it does feel very unfair. But in the end, even couples will have to nominate each other because only one person can win the show. At that point, they will realize how difficult it really is. I am just waiting for the day when these groups start fighting among themselves.

What is your reaction to the statements made against internet creators?

I did not like it at all. Some people chose television, others chose the internet. Internet creators do not have godfathers or industry support. They have built themselves from zero. You cannot belittle someone’s work. Mutual respect is extremely important.

What do you think about the fight between Digvijay Rathee and Rajat Dalal?

It felt very real to me. Their relationship is like Joker and Batman — a love-hate dynamic. They cannot live without each other, yet they keep fighting. It is entertaining for the audience, and I never felt that they were acting.

What is your opinion on Rajat Dalal’s leadership?

He is a leader, but he does not force his group members. Every gang has a different leadership style.
I liked his leadership because it had flexibility, and things were not rigid or pre-planned.

Who did you find the most entertaining?

Nikki Tamboli and Archana Gautam. Archana is funny even while fighting. She brings humor into serious arguments, which makes it entertaining to watch.

Did you speak to anyone after coming out of the show?

Yes, I spoke to Vanshaj and told him that the situation was very unfair. I also messaged Munawar Faruqui and Pranit More and told them — hats off. Doing a reality show is extremely difficult, especially for introverts.

Who are your top three contestants?

Sapna Choudhary, Manisha Rani, and Digvijay Rathee. I prefer solo players. That’s where the real fun is.

Would you participate in Khatron Ke Khiladi if offered?

Even if I get an offer, I would refuse. It is a very difficult show and not meant for me.
