The recently released film Pushpa 2 has created a storm of success in its opening week, leaving many people astounded. Film experts are struggling to determine the key to its success. Is it the strong content, a large star cast, a heavy investment in the making, or some other formula?

Pushpa 2 OTT Release Update: Is Netflix Set To Release 10 More Minutes Of Exclusive Footage?

The true results of Pushpa 2 will only be clear after a week, once the actual costs, collections, and earnings are analyzed. Only then will we understand if the film’s content resonates with audiences or if its making is what appeals to them? Alternatively, some other attraction may be responsible, offering a glimpse into the direction of future films. There is uncertainty about what truly contributed to the success.

Meanwhile, the issue of content absence at the box office is a cause for concern. In the past, films were primarily subject-driven. Then, the focus shifted to combining strong content with beautiful filmmaking. Old films had simple, straightforward stories that were hugely successful. But once technical quality was added, Indian cinema kept pace with international standards. Movies like Kal Ho Na Ho, Veer-Zaara, Biwi No. 1, Karan Arjun, and Lagaan are examples of films that touched hearts and adhered to international cinema norms.

Recently, many films, such as Brahmastra, Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan, and Singham Again, generated significant buzz before their release. Audiences were greatly impressed by the pre-release hype, but after watching the films, their stories didn’t quite resonate. As a result, these films struggled to recover their costs.

This highlights the real issue—the lack of content. While horror-themed films like Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 have managed to engage the audience with their captivating stories and making, other films like Dasvi Fail and Ghoomar, despite not having a large star cast, have won the hearts of audiences and performed well at the box office.

Interestingly, content seems to be gaining more popularity on OTT platforms than in theaters. Actors like Manoj Bajpayee and Pankaj Tripathi have become the OTT equivalents of Bollywood legends like Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. It’s evident that a strong storyline, or what we refer to today as "content," remains the backbone of any successful film.

Producers should focus on creating heart-touching narratives first, then gather a star cast, and pay attention to technical excellence. Only then will their films thrive at the box office. The shortage of content in Bollywood is indeed a serious issue.
