Upcoming Bollywood Movie Sequels

Bollywood is home to a range of films that have left an indelible mark on audiences. And while some movies are famous for their emotional depth, others are known for their high-octane action. Today, we're talking about the sequels to some of these iconic films, for which fans have been eagerly waiting for a long time.

Dhadak 2

Shashank Khaitan’s 2018 film Dhadak is getting a sequel titled Dhadak 2, which will release on February 21, 2025. This film stars Tripti Dimri and Sidhant Chaturvedi in the lead roles. The story will revolve around two lovers who, despite coming from different social backgrounds, share a deep and true love.

Border 2

The 1997 film Border, directed by JP Dutta, was a patriotic blockbuster that resonated with many. Now, the much-awaited sequel, Border 2, is set to release on January 23, 2026, on Republic Day. The film will continue to showcase the valor and struggle of the Indian Army, offering a compelling portrayal of their sacrifices.

Kick 2

Salman Khan’s 2014 hit Kick is also getting a sequel titled Kick 2. The film will once again feature Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Randeep Hooda in key roles, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui joining the ensemble cast. Kick 2 is slated for release on April 20, 2025. The film promises to deliver the same high-energy action and entertainment as its predecessor.

Aashiqui 3

The romantic musical Aashiqui (1990), starring Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, and its sequel Aashiqui 2 (2013), starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, became huge hits, largely due to their unforgettable soundtracks. Now, the third part of the Aashiqui series is set to star Kartik Aaryan. This romantic drama with a fantastic musical score is expected to release in 2024.

Tanu Weds Manu 3

Following the success of Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), fans are eagerly awaiting the third installment. The film’s shooting is expected to begin in 2025, and the release is scheduled for 2026. This time, the much-loved pair of Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan will once again charm audiences on the big screen.

Welcome 3: Welcome to the Jungle

The comedy franchise Welcome (2007) and its sequel Welcome Back (2015) were huge hits, and now Welcome 3 is set to arrive. The third part, titled Welcome to the Jungle, stars Akshay Kumar, Disha Patani, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tondon, and Jacqueline Fernandez. Don 3

When we talk about Don, names like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan immediately come to mind. Now, the third installment of this iconic franchise, Don 3, will feature Ranveer Singh in the lead role. This film promises to be a high-octane thriller and will hit theaters in May-June 2025.

Hera Pheri 3

Hera Pheri, the iconic comedy film starring Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, is returning for its third installment. Animal Park

The 2023 hit film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, is getting a sequel titled Animal Park. Why Do Sequels Get Made?

The increasing trend of sequels in Bollywood is due to several reasons. The primary one is the recall value that successful films have. A sequel to a popular film tends to get a good opening because audiences are already familiar with the characters, storyline, and world of the film. If the sequel has a solid storyline, it can become just as successful as the original. However, if the sequel fails to live up to expectations, it can quickly lose its appeal, and the film may not perform well at the box office.
