Having made his mark in the digital world and now stepping into cinema, Vishal recently attended the Cannes Film Festival where the poster of his film Far Away From Home was launched at the Indian Pavilion. In this exclusive interview with Mayapuri, Vishal opens up about his struggles, the Cannes experience, and his ongoing journey in the entertainment industry.

  • How was the experience of attending the Cannes Film Festival and representing your film there?

The experience was great, but honestly, it was quite hectic too. My entire team’s visa got rejected. The director was very sick, and the producer couldn’t attend at all. So, I was representing the film all by myself. Just before walking the red carpet, I was literally running on the streets because I was late. But in the end, the satisfaction I got was priceless — I was there for my film and stood tall with my project.

  • What was it like walking the red carpet? You mentioned doing your own styling.

I didn’t apply any makeup. I just used some aloe vera gel and did my hair myself. I didn’t have a team. It was a proud moment for me. At one point, a helper fixed my cape while my photo was being clicked — it was a really cute moment.

  • What is your film Far Away From Home about?

I can’t reveal much about the story right now, but I can say this — it’s about a brother’s fight for justice in a foreign country, far away from home. It’s an emotional and intense journey.

  • There was controversy this year that many influencers attended Cannes without any film. What’s your take on that?

Cannes is meant for cinema, not fashion. But if an influencer gets a chance, who would say no? I honestly don’t care why others went. What matters to me is why I went — I was there for my film.

  • There were some negative comments about you on social media. Did that affect you?

It used to bother me earlier, but not anymore. I believe silence is the best reply. When I posted the poster of my film, it became the answer to everything. I believe in hard work, that’s it.

  • Your journey — from content creator to Bigg Boss, and now Cannes — how would you define it?

In one word — hard work. People only see the outcome, not the struggle behind it. I’m still giving auditions every day. Even for Far Away From Home, I auditioned 3-4 times before getting shortlisted. And even after that. I still continue to audition regularly.

  • Your song Tu Saath Hai Toh was a big hit with over 12 million views. Do you prefer doing music videos or focusing more on films now?

I’m very selective with my work now. Since Bigg Boss, I’ve only done one music video. My focus is now on web series and films. If a big music project comes along, I’ll definitely do it — but for now, films are my priority.

  • Some believe that actors from Bigg Boss end up limited to music videos. What’s your view on this?

That’s a wrong perception. Everyone’s journey is different. Those who work hard will succeed. I’ve faced a lot of rejection too. Labels don’t matter — effort does.

  • Fans miss seeing you with Bhavin and Samiksha. What would you say to that?

I miss those times too. Samiksha is currently busy with her TV show, and Bhavin is about to get married — let him enjoy that phase. We’ll definitely work together again. Just give it a little time; the right moment will come.

  • Your fans are curious — are you thinking of settling down anytime soon?

Not yet! I have big dreams. The word “settle” sounds strange to me right now. I won’t stop until I achieve something big. And when the right partner enters my life — that’ll be the cherry on top.

  • What message would you like to give to your fans?

I just want to thank my audience — those who supported me at Cannes, and even those who didn’t.
