"We launch bright talents and not just faces," insists 'director' Anupam Kher at the teaser launch of 'Tanvi the Great', whose debuting lead actor Shubhangi was 'blessed' by iconic Kajol by Chaitanya Padukone

As you all know, I was just 28 years when I dared to play a 65 year old lead character in 'Saaransh' and I have survived in the movie-industry for past over 40 years, because of that brave decision, Our 'An Actor Prepares' academy students are not commercial brands or products but trained and groomed actors with great potential I Have tried my best to break that conventional myth of  'hero-heroine' fixation, because we need good trained actors " insisted 'director' Anupam Kher at the introductory teaser launch of 'Tanvi the Great' whose tall, talented debutante lead actress Shubhangi ( an alumnus of Anupam's acting school) was 'blessed' by none other than iconic actress Kajol..With a charismatic personality, Shubhangi is gracefully and impressively tall like Deepika Padukone (also an alumnus of Kher's acting academy) and like Tabu.

Ever since the first announcement of Tanvi The Great, the identity of the lead actress had been kept under wraps. In a grand reveal, versatile actor-producer-director Anupam Kher introduced Shubhangi as the film’s leading lady, with superstar Kajol unveiling the future actress of Indian cinema and offering her love and best wishes.

The introductory impressive teaser of ‘Meet Tanvi’ has also been released, showcasing Shubhangi as Tanvi. She appears fresh and striking, with an on-screen presence that is both calming and powerful.  The teaser takes us into the world of the film, which showcases Tanvi as different but no less.

The debutant, Shubhangi, was selected from Anupam Kher’s renowned acting school, Actor Prepares, where she has trained extensively over the years.

Speaking about the casting, Anupam Kher said, “When it came to casting Tanvi, I was determined to discover a fresh face and select a talent from my institute, 'Actor Prepares', in order to offer a newcomer this opportunity. Shubhangi, was the chosen one who is an exceptionally bright talent. She has given her all to portray Tanvi — a story very close to my heart. I hope audiences embrace her with the love and encouragement she truly deserves. I cannot wait for the world to witness the magic she has brought to Tanvi The Great. I am deeply grateful to Kajol for her support and for giving Shubhangi, so much love on this important occasion." said Kher, who also had his actor-brother Raju Kher, his actor-son Sikander, and his revered mother as family-guests in the audience.

Anupam Kher also clarified during news-media interactions that "the subject of my amazing, thought-provoking movie 'Tanvi The Great'  is original and not inspired by any other film. Honestly, with all due respects and my love to the lead cast and director of 'Barfi', I have not seen that film but I have watched glimpses of it.  Our film is actually based on a conversation I had with someone special and we also did a lot of research. In fact we recorded the multiple songs composed by the Oscar-Award-winning music director M M Keeravani. And I must say that the music is the soul of my authentic film and we first completed the captivating songs  " shared the outspoken, articulate Kher. who also authored an inspirational 'BTS' book 'Different But No Less' which candidly reveals "how this latest movie 'Tanvi...' almost did not get made"! 

Reflecting on her debut, Shubhangi shared, “I am immensely grateful to Anupam Kher Sir and Actor Prepares for giving me this opportunity to be the face of such a special film. The subject of my my is original and not inspired by any other film. My joy had no limits when I got to know I will be playing the role of Tanvi.  Embodying the character of Tanvi has been an overwhelming yet an enriching experience. Working alongside so many legends in the film has strengthened my foundation, and I am determined to continue working even harder.”

Tanvi The Great is one of the first few films to introduce its technicians and behind-the-scenes team before unveiling its lead actress. The film is set to have its international world premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, within the Marché du Film.

Directed by Anupam Kher, with music composed by Oscar-winner M. M. Keeravani, Tanvi The Great is produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with NFDC, and will be released soon.
