Shreya Ghoshal is one of the finest singers in Bollywood. She and Sonu Nigam have collaborated on many hit songs. But did you know that at the age of just 12, Shreya performed on the stage of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in front of none other than Sonu Nigam?

This was back in 1996, when music duo Kalyanji-Anandji were the judges of the show. The anchor of the segment was none other than Sonu Nigam. On stage, Shreya performed the song “Tumse Milkar Na Jaane Kyun” from the film Pyaar Jhukta Nahi, originally sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy. The performance was enjoyed by everyone, including Kalyanji-Anandji and Sonu Nigam, who were impressed by her talent.

Shreya won the competition, and this victory marked the turning point of her life. During the show, Kalyanji-Anandji were so taken by Shreya’s voice that they advised her parents to move to Mumbai for better musical education. After the move, Shreya trained under Kalyanji-Anandji and learned the intricacies of music.

Years later, after Shreya had become a household name in the entertainment industry, she and Sonu Nigam were seen together again on the stage of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, where they appeared to support a non-governmental organization.

Besides the National Awards, Shreya has also won 6 Filmfare Awards.

Shreya’s popularity knows no bounds—she has been included five times in Forbes India’s list of 100 celebrities. She is also the first Indian female singer to have a wax statue at Madame Tussauds, Delhi, and now in Noida.
