Whistling Woods International (WWI), Mumbai’s premier institute for film, communication, and creative arts, marked International Yoga Day & Music Day with a vibrant celebration filled with peace, purpose, and community participation.
The event was graced by renowned yoga guru and author Dr. Hansa Ji Yogendra, Neerja Ji from the Brahma Kumaris, celebrated actor Jackie Shroff, and WWI’s Founder-Chairman Subhash Ghai. Adding a musical note to the morning was WWI alumni and singer Sai Godbole, who performed a divine English devotional piece that resonated with the spiritual atmosphere.
This year’s celebration had a strong message of inclusivity and sustainability. 282 students from a partner NGO were specially invited to join the event and participated in a mass yoga session alongside the Brahma Kumari performance team. The event featured inspirational yoga video screenings, soul-soothing music performances by WWI students, interactive workshops, and motivational talks by the esteemed guests
Jackie Shroff, in his signature heartfelt style, addressed the audience on the importance of yoga and mindful breathing, bringing both laughter and reflection. In a moving gesture of gratitude, he presented his symbolic Bhidu Plant to his mentor, Subhash Ghai.
President Meghna Ghai Puri highlighted WWI’s commitment to sustainability, sharing details of the institute’s collaboration with the NGO to transform residual plastic into wearable fabrics. The NGO students proudly wore these upcycled t-shirts during the celebration, reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility and innovation.
In his keynote address, Subhash Ghai shared his transformative yoga journey, "The profound connection between yoga and artistic excellence became clear to me during my FTII days when a professor told us, 'The day you embrace yoga is the day you become a true artist.' I didn't fully comprehend those words then, but decades of practice have proven their wisdom. Yoga became my foundation—sharpening my focus, bringing inner calm, and unlocking creative depths I never knew existed. Growing up, I watched my mother's daily practice with quiet reverence, not realizing she was gifting me a blueprint for life. That ancient discipline has been my constant companion through every transformation—from actor to writer, director, and producer. For over four decades, I haven't missed a single day of practice because yoga isn't just exercise; it's the wellspring of authentic creativity and the cornerstone of artistic integrity."
The International Yoga Day celebration at Whistling Woods International stood as a powerful confluence of tradition, creativity, and community, reminding everyone that wellness and inner balance are at the heart of artistic excellence.
