Amidst cheering applause, director-actor Mohanlal unveiled the Hindi dubbed trailer and glimpses of the catchy songs of the real 3-D film "Barroz" yesterday afternoon in the presence of lucky mascot Chief Guest Akshay Kumar. Five National Film Awards winner –the modest Malayalam superstar Mohanlal also launched their coffee table book at the event, introducing Akshay Kumar to the fascinating world of Barroz. The movie Barroz sparkling with technical brilliance, is releasing during the Christmas ( next) week and will continue to be screened in the New Year (2025) thereafter. A Christmas gift as well as New Year gift for theatre audiences !!. Barroz marks Mohanlal's drectorial debut! Trailer. The movie is based on the best-seller novel Barroz—The Guardian of D"Gama"s Treasure by Jijo Punnoose. An excited Akshay expressing appreciation at the trailer launch reacted that "Barroz-3D" 'will definitely make lots of children very happy'! It may be recalled that Mohanlal has also acted in various landmark Hindi movies including Ram Gopal Varma"s "Company" and Ram Gopal Varma Ki "Aag" and Malayalam-Hindi movie Kandahar. In RGV"s Aag and in "Kandahar", Mohanlal"s co-star was Amitabh Bachchan. In the original super-hit Malayalam movie "Drishyam" (2013) Mohanlal played the lead character. And Priyadarshan (“Priyan”) has been a mentor-director to both Mohanlal and Akshay Kumar So, it was only befitting that Akshay was invited as the chief guest for the Hindi trailer launch of Mohanlal"s directorial debut Barroz in Mumbai on December 11. Reacted Akshay, “We have all seen lots of 3-D films before, but this movie was shot in real 3D format and that"s really commendable. There are few movies in India that are made with keeping the children-audience in mind,” said Akshay. “I am sure it will be a wonderful experience in theatres and I am personally waiting to see what kind of reactions this film will get. Watching "Barroz" during the festive Christmas week and even later will definitely make a lot of children very happy.” During the event, Mohanlal was also asked about the Akshay-Priyadarshan combination in Bollywood remakes. “Priyadarshan"s first film was with me and after he completes another 2-3 movies, he will be doing his 100th film, which will again have me in the lead. It"s probably the first time in the world – a director"s first and 100th film has the same actor,” said Mohanlal. On Akshay Kumar playing the protagonists in most of the Hindi remakes of yesteryear hits, the Malayalam superstar said, “You can"t compare actors. They are totally different – in terms of the costume, characters they are playing or even their body language. I have seen most of Akshay"s movies that Priyadarshan has remade and he is a brilliant actor. He is a 100% professional actor. I am not that professional.” On his part, Akshay also lavished praise on Mohanlal and how he has been a huge fan of the South superstar. He even recalled Mohanlal"s debut film Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980), asking him on stage, “Didn"t you play a villain in your first film? I remember that film as well as the comedy film Chithram (1988).
