Kiara then took on projects that showcased her versatility. She ventured into Telugu cinema with the political drama "Bharat Ane Nenu" (2018) and the action-drama Vinaya Vidheya Rama (2019) proving her ability to adapt to different filmmaking styles.

2019: The Year of Breakthrough

The year 2019 marked a turning point in Kiara's career as she appeared in several films across different genres. She delivered noteworthy performances in movies like "Lust Stories," "Kabir Singh," and "Good Newwz," each showcasing her range and ability to adapt to diverse roles. She took on contrasting roles – the free spirited and feisty Megha for Karan Johar’s segment in “Lust Stories”, the quiet and reserved Preeti in "Kabir Singh" and the airhead Monika in the hilarious "Good Newwz." All the three films were critically acclaimed, and Kiara's performances displayed her range and ability to carry a film, for which she even bagged the IIFA Award for Best Supporting Actress for "Good Newwz" and Zee Cine Award for Best Actress for “Kabir Singh.”

Kiara continued to push boundaries with "Guilty," a Netflix original film where she portrayed a college student accused of rape. Her portrayal of Nanki Dutta, a layered character navigating complexity, garnered praise for its depth and sensitivity.

Leading Lady Status and Beyond

Since then, Kiara has been on a roll, delivering one compelling performance after another. Kiara's portrayal of Dimple in "Shershaah" marked another significant milestone in her career. The war-drama, based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, showcased Kiara's ability to bring depth and emotion to her characters. As Vikram Batra's fiancée, Kiara delivered a poignant performance, capturing the essence of love, sacrifice, and resilience and the film's success further solidified her standing in the industry. 

She has delivered strong performances in films like the horror-comedy “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2” where she seamlessly blends comedic timing with emotional depth as she navigates the film's supernatural elements. In the comedy-drama "Jugjugg Jeeyo" Kiara delivers a nuanced character of Naina, a young woman caught between her parents' dysfunctional relationship as well as her own which captures the character's emotional turmoil and resilience.

In “Satyaprem Ki Katha”, Kiara played Katha, a young woman who was sexually abused by her boyfriend and how she eventually confronts her past trauma with the support of her husband after an arranged marriage. The film received a lot of praise for Kiara's performance, with some calling it her career-best.
