Gurusharan Singh Kohli was one of Bollywood's renowned music composers. The melodious composer passed away on July 25, 1996, in Mumbai.

Gurusharan Singh Kohli’s work in the industry includes the film 'Shikari', released in 1963. Despite being a B-grade film with a simple storyline and no major star cast, the movie's music made a significant impact. The songs from 'Shikari' were a massive hit, contributing to the film’s success and securing its position as the seventh highest-grossing film at the box office during that time.

The music of the film became famous

The main reason for this was the music of the film, all the songs of the film were better than the other. Songs like Tumko Piya Dil Diya Kitne Naaz Se, Chaman Ke Phool Bhi Tujhko Gulaab Kehte Hain, Mangi Hai Duayein Humne Sanam, Baaje Ghungroo Chhun Chhun, Yeh Rangin Mehfil Gulabi Gulabi and Agar Main Poochun Jawab Doge became very popular among the music lovers at that time, but even today all these songs melt in the ears. The music director of this film was GS Kohli. Born in Punjab in 1928, Gurusharan Singh Kohli, music director O P Nayyar, who was well versed with Dholak and other instruments, had composed the music for his first film Dilsukh Pancholi’s Aasman, which was released in 1952.

When he gave music to it, he chose GS Kohli as his main assistant. Gurusharan Singh Kohli got the opportunity to work as an assistant to O P Nayyar from 1952 to 1968. Guru Suran Singh Kohli helped Nayyar in composing music and making tunes in many films of O P Nayyar's film CID and Mr. and Mrs. 555 Arey Paar Naya Daur Kashmir Ki Kali Kismat Yeh Raat Firna Aayegi etc. and all were hits. In 1960, GS Kohli independently gave music for the first film Lambe Haath 'Pyar Ki Raah Dikha Duniya Ko Roke Jo Nafrat Ki Aandhi'. This song became very popular in the voice of Rafi Sahab. The songs of this film are still heard on Independence Day. Despite the best songs, Bollywood forgot this great singer and his talent.
