Hema started dancing at the age of 5
Born in a Tamil family, Hema Malini was the third child of her parents. Her mother Jaya Lakshmi Chakraborty was a producer. Her mother wanted her to become a dancer and this was the reason why when she was five years old, her mother tied Ghunghru (a pair of anklets) on her feet. Hema Malini herself has said that she wanted to play with her friends, but her mother would ask her to dance.
Born in Chennai, Hema Malini did her early education there. History has been her favorite subject. But, she could not even complete her schooling. Because she started getting offers for films continuously. Hema started her career at the age of just 14.
Hema was rejected in her first film itself
Some time ago, Hema Malini told another interesting story of her life. She had told me that when she got an offer for a film, but when she met the director, she was rejected because of her figure. Hema Malini told that the director wanted a fat heroine for that role and she was very thin at that time.

Hema donated her eyes in 2007
