Chitragupt, a well-known music director of Hindi cinema, was born on 16 November 1917 in Gopalganj district of Bihar. His contribution to the world of music is indelible. He was the only Indian musician to receive a formal education in music. He was educated at Patna and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), where he obtained a master's degree in music and history.

Chitragupta started his career during the freedom struggle and later made a career in music direction. He composed music for his first film, "Ladakh" (1946), but he gained recognition in the 1950s and 60s when his music won the hearts of the audience. His tunes were simple and melodious, instantly appealing to listeners.

Chitragupta's contribution was not limited to films only, he made a place in the hearts of people through music. He died on 14 January 1991, but he is still alive through his music.
