Success and Gratitude: A Reflection on Back-to-Back Hits

You have given back-to-back hits. You have received a lot of love from fans also. At the time of Kerala Story, you had said that this film was not that big, you gave your 100 percent in it and you also got love from people, what would you like to say about it?

What more does an artist need than the love of the audience? When we were making Kerala Story, we thought it would be a small film because its budget was low. It was going to be a festival film but I do the same acting, whether we are making a home video or I am doing an audition or I am shooting an ad, I always work equally hard. Who knew that Kerala Story would collect more than Rs 300 crores? I will always give my 100 percent whether it is a music video or a film.

Sunflower

Your series ‘Sunflower’ has also received a lot of love from the audience. Sunil Grover, who is working with you in the series, also praised you. How was the experience of working with him?

He is very nice and it is a big thing that he said so many nice things about me. I enjoyed working with him very much because he is a very talented artist. Not only comedy, he also works very well in different genres. I am doing comedy for the first time and I consider myself very lucky to have got a chance to work with him.

In 'Bastar' you were seen in a different style and the audience liked your style very much. What would you like to say about this?

I am trying to play different types of characters and I am lucky that I am getting a chance to play different types of characters. The role was quite tough and I am very happy that I got to do it. The amount of compliments people have given me for Bastar, I don't think I have received so many compliments for any other film. I am very happy that I got a chance to play this character.

Would you like to tell us something about your upcoming projects because fans are also excited to see you in different styles?

Not even a year has passed since 'The Kerala Story' was released in theatres, then 'Commando 3' was released on OTT and then 'The Kerala Story' was also released on OTT. Whenever I met someone, they used to ask when 'The Kerala Story' would be released on OTT. And now that 'Bastar' has been released in theatres, people have started asking me when ‘Bastar’ will come on OTT. I also hope that Bastar also comes soon. This year has been very busy and I want to do more than just acting. I have to do a lot for people by using my fame. We are doing a lot for wildlife right now. I am associated with Dolfa, a hospital in Ajmer for abused animals. Along with films, I also want to work for the welfare of animals.

Would you like to tell us something about what things you have faced in your acting journey?

When you reach your destination, I think you forget those difficult times as a human being. It was not that the journey was easy but I have forgotten all those negative things. I have remembered only positive things, I have forgotten negative things. It is not that negative things have not happened but I do not keep them in mind. Because I feel that if I remember negative things, I will also continue to become negative. I am just grateful that I got all these opportunities.

There were two options to learn extra language in my school, which were Marathi and French. My dad said that we live in India so chose the Indian language. That's why I chose Marathi. Currently, most of the people on my team are Maharashtrian.

I was shocked when my grandmother said that the saree cost fifteen rupees. I also told him that this could not happen but he said no, the saree is only worth fifteen rupees. I also trolled my grandmother.

You are a trendsetter in the way you execute fashion. What do you think about it?

I think you should wear whatever you like, in which you are comfortable if it is a trend then it is fine, otherwise the trend changes now and then. I think fashion is something you should enjoy. I wear whatever I like and if it becomes a trend then it is a good thing, then everyone should wear their grandmother's sarees. Anyway, we are abusing our planet a lot, thus by increasing sustainability, we may be able to help in saving the planet.

Thanks to all those who liked 'Sunflower', 'The Kerala Story', 'Bastar', and 'Commando 3', and for those who did not, I hope that they like whatever I am doing next.
