Ajay Devgn And Mrunal Thakur's Hook Step In Song Pehla Tu From Son Of Sardaar 2 Gets Hilarious Reactions From Netizens

When the script for Son of Sardaar 2 was locked, what was your first reaction?

Ajay Devgn: We had been working on the script for four years, so I think my reaction doesn't even need explaining!
Mrunal Thakur: My reaction was—“I’m definitely doing this, let’s start shooting already!” I was a little hesitant at first, wondering whether I could pull it off. But once we began, I had a blast. We did a few workshops before heading to Scotland, which helped a lot.

What about your character this time left a deep impact on you?

Mrunal Thakur: I play Rabia, a strong and impactful character. What I learned from her is the importance of being kind to yourself. We’re often too harsh and critical of ourselves. Rabia taught me that good things happen to those who do good. That’s why this character is very close to my heart. I also learned to play the dhol, picked up some Punjabi, and visited Edinburgh for the first time—it was an unforgettable experience. Being part of this franchise is a matter of pride.

Ajay Devgn: I play Jassi, a simple and lovable man, and that simplicity is his strength. The script is brilliant, and the humor is very situational—it flows naturally from the story.

Which scene or trailer moment gave you the most cinematic satisfaction?

Mrunal Thakur: One of my favorite scenes is the one with the pole—Bebe folds her hands, and then there’s that hilarious moment when sir is aiming at a bottle and a fly lands on his nose. It’s such a fun and memorable bit. Also, Ravi sir’s work is phenomenal!

What’s the biggest difference or challenge between working in comedy vs. action films?

Ajay Devgn: Comedy is actually harder to pull off. If the script is well-written, it’s easier, but timing and coordination between actors are critical. You need to be open and free in your performance. If the comedy works on paper, it usually works on screen.

Mrunal Thakur: For me, comedy is a big challenge too. I’ve realized that crying on screen is actually easier. With emotional scenes, people quickly connect. But comedy needs perfect timing and expression, otherwise it just doesn’t land. I’ve learned a lot from Ajay sir on this.

What has been your most difficult scene so far? What’s your view on today’s action trends and technology?

Ajay Devgn: My toughest scene was my first entry shot, where I did a stunt on two bikes. Back then, we didn’t have all the safety measures we do now—everything was shot live, so it was extremely risky. Nowadays, things are much safer thanks to cables, technical support, and precautions that weren’t available before. Earlier, you just accepted that you’d get hurt.

Mrunal Thakur: I haven’t done a lot of action yet, but I’m learning. And when you have someone like Ajay sir on set, listening to and learning from him is always enriching.

How has the response been to the newly released "Po Po" song?

Ajay Devgn: We felt there should be a new version of Po Po. This time, we even used it in the background score. Ganesh Acharya choreographed it brilliantly and made it super fun.

Mrunal Thakur: I don’t think I’ve ever done so many dance steps in a single day! The song was shot in just one day, and Ganesh sir did an incredible job.

What are your reactions to the viral social media dance steps and trends?

Ajay Devgn: Every day, we see new and fun videos. It’s great to see people enjoying the tune and the choreography.

Mrunal Thakur: My mom has picked her favorite dance step from the song and is now learning it on YouTube and dancing at home!

If you could make a sequel to any older film, which would it be?

Ajay Devgn: Honestly, I’ve never planned sequels. When a story comes along that feels like a natural continuation, only then do we consider making a sequel.

Between Singham, Jassi, and Vijay Salgaonkar – who would you most want to be like in real life?

Ajay Devgn: I’d want to have the strength of Singham, the simplicity and pure heart of Jassi, and the intelligence and inner strength of Vijay Salgaonkar—to protect your family and loved ones.

What’s the biggest lesson your professional life has taught you?

Mrunal Thakur: Never give up on your dreams. There will be many people who’ll say you don’t have what it takes—but keep working hard. And if you ever get a break, use it to grow and improve yourself.

Ajay Devgn: The most important thing is to believe in yourself and understand what you really want to become—a star or an artist? First, identify your passion and then work relentlessly for it.

What message would you like to give to your fans?

Ajay Devgn: The audience knows what to expect from Son of Sardaar, and I truly believe they’ll get exactly that—and more.
