Actress Rajshree Thakur, who shot to fame with Zee TV's hit serial Sath Phere, is making a grand return to television after 17 years with her new show Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai. In this show, she portrays the character of Avni, a role she deeply connects with. In an exclusive conversation with Mayapuri Magazine, Rajshree talks about the show, her character, and her much-awaited return to Zee TV.

Let’s dive into what she had to say.

You ruled Zee TV for many years, and now, after 17 years, you’re returning with a new show. How does it feel?

I’m really happy to be making my return to Zee TV after 17 years. It feels like coming back home. All my memories with Zee are still fresh, and it’s wonderful to be a part of this new journey. What excites me the most is that I have been chosen for such a meaningful character. Avni’s role is something every woman can relate to. Every household has an Avni – someone who does so much for the family but seldom takes time for herself. I believe this character will inspire many women, and that’s why I’m so fond of it.

You mentioned that Avni’s character is close to your heart. Can you elaborate on that?

I’m in a demanding profession, and balancing home responsibilities with work is often challenging. Avni’s character is close to me because, like her, I am very much connected to my family. I have a 7-year-old daughter, and when I have to go to the set, I must ensure everything at home is in order before I leave. I can’t step out until I’m sure everything is taken care of. So, when I play Avni, I find a lot of parallels between her life and mine.

Avni’s character represents a woman who manages both her family and her own identity. What’s your take on this?

Avni’s character is beautiful because she balances her responsibilities effortlessly. Her husband has an old-fashioned mindset, but Avni, despite the challenges, always prioritizes her family’s needs. This is what makes her character so inspiring. She manages the house, the family, and her own identity, all while breaking free from societal norms. This is what I find most admirable about her – she creates her own space while maintaining her role in the family.

This feels like a full-circle moment for me,” said Rajshree Thakur as she returns to Zee TV after 15 years with Bas Itna Sa Khwaab

For a long time, TV shows mostly showcased triangle love stories. Do you think that now we’re seeing more realistic, mature stories about women?

Absolutely! We’re now witnessing a shift towards more mature and relatable stories. Women have always been the lead characters in TV shows, but now the focus is on portraying the problems and responsibilities of middle-aged women. These women are not just about love triangles anymore – they’re about handling a family while also pursuing their own identities. Playing such characters is both challenging and rewarding. I’m really happy that I get the opportunity to bring such a character to life.

What kind of response did you receive from your fans after the promo aired?

Even though I’m returning after 17 years, fans still recognize me as Saloni from my previous show. After the promo aired, I received messages from so many people, especially from my fraternity, with love and appreciation. It feels amazing that people still remember me by that character, and it’s heartwarming to see that they are excited to see me back. I’m glad to be back in that environment and connecting with my audience again.

In the promo, your image is simple and beautiful. Off-screen, you are known for your simplicity and grace. What message would you like to give to fans about Avni’s character?

I would like to tell my fans that the same love they gave to Saloni will be given to Avni as well. I’m confident that you all will connect with Avni’s character and shower her with love. This story could be anyone’s story, as it reflects the struggles and experiences of every family. It’s a story that resonates with everyone, and I’m sure you’ll all enjoy it. So, don’t forget to tune in to Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai starting December 3rd at 7 PM, only on Zee TV.

Along with Rajshree Thakur, the show also stars Yogendra Vikram Singh, Bhumika Gurung, and several other talented actors. Rajshree is ready to win hearts once again after 17 years, bringing a fresh and inspiring story to your screens. Make sure to catch this heartfelt journey of family, dreams, and self-discovery.
