The upcoming cooking reality show Celebrity MasterChef is all set to entertain the audience with its celebrity contestants. This show is a spin-off of the hit reality show MasterChef. In this season, famous celebrities will be seen showcasing their cooking skills. Recently, contestants Fazal Sheikh, Archana Gautam, and Chandan Prabhakar, who are featured in the show, gave an interview to Mayapuri. During the interview, they talked about their cooking skills, their bond with each other, and which contestant’s feedback they eagerly wait for. Let’s find out what they had to say.
This show offers a chance for audiences to see a different skill set of yours, ranging from acting, singing, and dancing to cooking. It’s not an easy feat. The chefs on the show are taking the culinary experience to a whole new level. How has your journey been so far?
Fayaz: My journey has been fantastic. Our chefs are always taking the food to the next level, and we are really happy to have the opportunity to continue this journey with them.
Archana: On MasterChef, we have contestants from all sorts of backgrounds and genres. It’s such a wonderful and exciting experience to work alongside them. Being on such a big platform and sharing the screen with such renowned chefs is a big deal for me. As for cooking, I never imagined I’d be good at it. I never thought I’d be part of Celebrity MasterChef. But it’s been an amazing experience. We've received basic training and now we are making a variety of international and Indian dishes. I feel really proud of myself.
We saw in the promo that you were emotional and crying. What happened that made you tear up?
Archana: At home, when we cook, we usually have a lot of time, but here, the pressure of time is huge. When the time runs out and you’re not sure if your dish is ready, it’s really tough. And then plating the dish is another challenge because we have to present it perfectly. That’s a huge task. In the promo, you’ll see that I was crying over eggs. We had 6 eggs, and one of them broke. Now we had to make 2 dishes with only 5 eggs. It was a big challenge, and that’s why I was emotional. You’ll understand how tough it was when you watch the show.
When you all make your dishes and present them to the judges, whose feedback do you look forward to hearing the most, other than your own?
Fayaz: Rajeev! He’s the kind of contestant who praises his own dish at least 200 times before he even presents it to the judges. He gets us all so excited with his enthusiasm that we can’t wait to see if he’ll get the feedback he expects. But, of course, it doesn’t always turn out that way.
Archana: For me, it’s Usha Tai’s dishes. She always makes rice, and I always think of it as khichdi. But by the time it reaches the judges, it’s magically turned into risotto. I’m always curious to see what the judges will say.
Chandan: I also look forward to Rajeev’s feedback. I wonder what he has made because I’ve seen that he usually bakes a lot. Every time he makes a cake, I’m like, “Did a cake really make this cake?” When he goes to the judges, I’m curious about what feedback he’ll get. And when he explains it, it becomes even more entertaining.
Would you like to say something to your fans and viewers?
Fayaz: I’d just like to tell my fans to shower us with lots of love. We are working hard, learning new things every day, and stepping out of our comfort zones to do something we’ve never done before. Please continue supporting us and watching Celebrity MasterChef.
Archana: Only on Sony TV, 27th January at 8 PM!
The show will be judged by renowned chefs Ranveer Brar, Vikas Khanna, and Bollywood producer-director Farah Khan.
