Popular television actress Anita Hassanandani is making a comeback — not in a fictional role this time, but as her true self in the reality show ‘Chhoriyan Chali Gaon.’ In an exclusive conversation with Mayapuri Magazine, Anita revealed what makes this show special for her, the emotional and physical challenges she faced, and the kind of preparations she’s made. Here's what she had to say...

You've played many characters on television, but this time it’s just Anita as herself. What was special about this show?

It’s a very unique and different concept. I believe people will be able to connect with it. Watching girls perform village tasks will look super cute and at times even funny. This show has so much to offer — adventure, emotions, and a slice of real life. Most importantly, it lets you connect with the audience and villagers in a real and heartfelt way. It has everything a complete show needs.

As a mother, how tough was the decision to stay away from your son Aarav?

Very tough! But my husband Rohit gave me immense support. He told me it’s a great concept and I should go for it. This will also strengthen the bond between Rohit and Aarav. My mother-in-law has come down from Goa to Mumbai and she loves Aarav dearly — she’ll take care of him in my absence. I believe this show will make both Aarav and me emotionally stronger.

Have you ever stayed in a village before? Any specific preparations for the experience?

Yes, I had once gone to a village for a shoot and got bitten by a mosquito — I still remember that! So this time I’ve packed gumboots, mosquito repellent spray, and even a cap to protect myself from the sun. With these basics, I feel ready for the show.

You’re known for your styling. What about your look this time?

Styling will take a backseat in this show. I’m absolutely comfortable without makeup. I think people should get to see the real me, and I’m totally ready for that.

When contestants live together, conflicts and tension are often inevitable. Are you mentally prepared for it?

Absolutely! Just like I handle things in daily life, I’ll manage here too. I’ll try to be patient — but if that runs out, I’ll deal with it accordingly. My intention is to go in with an open heart and give 100% in every task.

What would you like to say about the host, Rannvijay?

Rannvijay is a wonderful person and connects beautifully with every contestant. I’ve known him for a long time — he’s like family. He’s also leaving his two kids behind for the show, so we’ll share a special bond. I know that whenever I feel emotional, I can count on his shoulder to cry on.
