Chinki-Minki, the popular twin sisters Surabhi and Samriddhi Mehra, have made a name for themselves with their comic timing, energy, and perfect sync — from The Kapil Sharma Show to various digital platforms. But now, for the first time, they will be seen competing in different teams on the reality show ‘Chhoriyan Chali Gaon’.
In an exclusive conversation with Mayapuri, Surabhi Mehra opened up about her fears, preparation, bonding with her sister, and working with host Rannvijay Singha. Let’s see what she had to say:
- You’ve done many TV shows and social media projects. Why did you choose to join this reality show?
The concept of the show is very unique and exciting. Just the name gave us a feeling that something dhamakedaar (explosive) is going to happen! It’s airing on Zee TV, and when the offer came, we were like — we’re in! And yes, we’re here to win too!
- For the first time, both of you will be on different teams. How do you feel about that?
Yes, we’ll be playing separately, and no one will even know who is in which team! The fun part is when we complete a task and then reveal who actually did it. It’s going to be super fun — but honestly, I’m also very nervous. My sister will be around, but we don’t know how long we’ll get to stay together.
- Have you ever experienced village life before?
My mom is from Karnal, so we visited the village a few times as kids. I’ve seen tractors and trucks, but I’ve never really lived among cows and buffaloes. Now, I’m taking tips from mom and grandma. I’m also watching YouTube videos on how to milk cows and all that.
- You’ve prepared a lot for packing, too. Tell us about that.
Yes! For a 15-day shoot, I’ve packed outfits with tags — like, these shoes go with this dress, this lip color, this hairstyle, this eyeshadow! Everything is pre-decided. Styling always stresses me out, so I wanted to be fully prepared this time.
- Have you prepared mentally and physically for the show?
Yes, I’ve started meditating. Because if I lose my patience, I won’t survive the competition. I can’t tolerate heat, and there’ll be no AC. On top of that, I don’t like the smell of desi ghee! We’ll have to cook for ourselves — no avocado or quinoa! Let’s see how I adjust to all this.
- Since all the contestants are women, how do you plan to handle conflicts?
I don’t like arguments. If I disagree with something, I’ll express my opinion calmly. I prefer resolving things over yelling. And since the show is family-oriented, I don’t think there will be much negativity. Everyone has come with good vibes.
- How was your first interaction with the other contestants?
Everyone’s really nice and from different backgrounds — some are from Delhi, some from villages, and some don’t even speak much Hindi. But I liked everyone’s vibe. Samriddhi and I are both very bubbly by nature, so we gel well with everyone.
- Are you excited to work with host Rannvijay Singha?
We’re both huge fans of his! He’s a great person and has hosted so many shows — his energy is just amazing. Though we girls usually get busy gossiping and he ends up alone! But he’s very humble and down-to-earth. It’s exciting to be doing the show with him.
- Fans were worried after news spread that you two were going separate ways. What do you want to say about that?
Oh no! We just posted that we’ll be in different teams for the show. But we’re staying in the same house, and we’re together! Chinki-Minki can never be separated — this is just for the show.
- As twins, how much effort goes into matching body language, movements, and dialogue delivery?
It takes a lot of hard work. We have to wake up together, eat the same food, even speak together. To get our two-line dialogues in sync, we practiced for 6–7 months. It’s definitely not easy.
- What message would you like to give your fans?
The way you’ve loved Chinki-Minki, we now need that same love and support as we appear as individual contestants. This show has love, conflict, confusion — and a lot of fun! It’s our first reality journey, and we need you all with us.
