Crazxy Trailer Launch – ‘Tumbbad’ Actor Says, “I Want to Make Every Film…”

Crazxy Trailer Launch: The trailer for Sohum Shah’s new film Crazxy, which follows his successful role in Tumbbad, was released today, January 17. During the press conference event, Sohum Shah was seen wearing a blue outfit, joined by the film's writer and director, Girish Kohli, who also wore blue attire.

Crazxy Trailer Launch: Sohum Shah shared his thoughts

At the Crazxy trailer launch, Sohum explained that this film is very different from Tumbbad. While Tumbbad was a story spanning three generations, Crazxy is a one-day narrative, with no similarities between the two. “In Tumbbad, we tried something new, and similarly, in Crazxy, we’ve done something different. I had said back then that whether or not you like the film, you’ll feel like you've experienced something unique. You’ll have the same feeling after watching this one.”

During the event, Sohum shared that people call him "Crazxy" because of his previous projects. “In Ship of Theseus, there wasn’t an actual ship, but just by hearing the name, people expected one. They thought I was crazy for doing that. Similarly, with Tumbbad, people said no one watches horror movies.”

Sohum also reminisced about a moment after his standing ovation at a previous event. “When I got a standing ovation, my mom was asleep. Later, she said, ‘Who shows such a scary grandmother in a film? You can’t make a decent film.’”

Girish Kohli’s perspective: The director and writer of Crazxy, Girish Kohli, took the stage next and talked about the film. “I’ve always wanted to see good thrillers, but such films are rare. I decided I had to make one myself, so I wrote this film. It’s very different in its style and design; its DNA is bizarre. It’s a film filled with madness.”

Girish also mentioned the unique spelling of the title, explaining that it was always part of the script. He encouraged anyone with a similar unique film concept to approach them, saying, “If you have an idea for a film that’s good and needs to be made but no one in India would dare to make it, you should come to us.”

Media Interaction: During the media round, journalists asked several questions about the film:

“You’ve been in the industry for 10 years. What difficulties have you faced during this time?” Sohum responded, “Acting is easier. But being a film producer is much harder. Yet, no one interviews them, no one asks them about their work. In South Indian films (especially Malayalam), producers still get their due recognition.”

“Your film titles are always quite different. What’s the story behind that?” Sohum replied, “It’s nothing special. All my titles are everyday words. People just misinterpret them. The title of this film is something we all say every day.”

“You started making this film in 2022. Now that it’s releasing, what challenges did you face during production?” Sohum explained, “There were no major difficulties. Making a film always comes with challenges. (Crazxy Trailer Launch) You face difficulties whenever you try something for the first time, and we went through that too.”

Sohum also emphasized that he wants to make films with a unique angle. “I want to make every film that has something special about it. I never feel pressured by a film’s success or expectations. Additionally, Sohum mentioned, “I don’t like rushing through films. I prefer taking an extra five days to make a film right, rather than finishing it hastily. I don’t want to make formulaic films; I want to present good content.”

About the Film: Directed and written by Girish Kohli, Crazxy starring Sohum Shah will be released in theaters on February 28, 2025.
