Recently, Aditi Pohankar, who played the pivotal role of ‘Pammi’ in Aashram Season 3 Part 2, gave an exclusive interview to the media. In this interview, Aditi opened up about her journey with Aashram, her various roles, career, and co-star Bobby Deol. Here's what she had to say.

Aditi on Aashram’s Success & Her Journey as Pammi

After the success of Aashram, several parts of the series followed, and recently, Aashram Season 3 Part 2 was released, receiving a great response from the audience. Aditi, who played the important character of ‘Pammi’, shared her thoughts on the show's success, her journey, and much more in her conversation with the media.

You’ve played several remarkable roles so far, whether it’s as a police constable in She or as ‘Pammi’ in the Aashram series. These characters have truly touched the hearts of the audience. People now love to see you in various roles. After Aashram, what kind of responses have you received? How do you view this journey?

For me, Aashram has been an incredibly enriching experience. And this experience isn’t just about the show’s success; it’s about the love and appreciation that I’ve received. With so many shows on OTT platforms, it’s incredible to be chosen from the crowd, especially when people remember me by my character name, Pammi. It feels wonderful to know that my work resonates with people and that they connect with me through my performances. I’m deeply grateful to director Prakash Jha and the writer for giving me this opportunity.

How did you become part of Aashram? Could you share more about that journey?

I auditioned for Aashram in 2020, and at that time, I didn’t know much about the character I was auditioning for. What really drew me to the project was the chance to work with Prakash Sir, because he is such a renowned filmmaker, and he has the courage to bring up topics I can truly connect with. When I got the opportunity, I knew I had to take it. The challenge, however, was that I needed to gain weight for the role, which wasn’t easy for me. I could only manage to gain about 750 grams initially, but over time, I noticed my muscles were gaining weight. Over four months, I went from 48 kg to 58 kg. I also had to learn Haryanvi and take several steps to truly embody the character. I never regretted this journey because I always give my best to my work.

You mentioned that you’ve been working for two years and are still happy. But as a public figure, people often ask, “What’s in your pipeline?” How do you handle such questions?

In the beginning, I was scared that people might forget me, but then I accepted that fear. If they forget me, when they return, they will remember me again. In the meantime, I worked on plays, and I came to understand that there’s no need to rush. Everything happens according to plan. I don’t feel the need to hurry because what’s meant to happen, will happen. I keep doing my acting, and I’m also active on Instagram because it’s connected to acting too. I don’t care about how many people are watching me; I do what I love.

How do you view social media? People often leave positive or negative comments. Do you ever read negative comments?

I don’t read negative comments much. My world is different, and it’s not connected to that world. Social media is a way to interact with the audience and show them who I really am. I am not Pammi; I am Aditi. People want to know what I like to eat or what excites me. I used to feel the same when I was younger. It’s exciting for me to share my real self on Instagram. I don’t let negative comments affect me.

Do you believe in any spiritual gurus?

No, I don’t believe in any baba, but I do believe in teachings, like Buddhist teachings, where you learn why you are here and what your purpose is as a human being. I feel deeply connected to that.

Have you faced any challenges in this industry? Is there any experience you'd like to share?

Nothing major has happened to me. Yes, I have had some difficulty with my eye line, but other than that, nothing. I’ve heard a lot of things, but I’ve never experienced anything personally. It all depends on how you present yourself. I’ve never felt desperate or rushed, and I’ve never been in a place where I felt uncomfortable with someone. I wait for the right opportunities because I trust that what is meant to happen will happen.

What was your experience working with Bobby Deol?

I haven’t seen much of Bobby Sir’s work, but my sister has. She was quite impressed with him, especially in Gupt. For me, it was like meeting a new co-actor, and I learned a lot from that experience.

How do you see the difference between movies and OTT? In movies, you get 2.5 hours, but on OTT, you get more time to develop a character. How do you view this?

I’m really happy with OTT because it gives you more time to develop a character. In films, the story is limited to a few hours, but OTT gives both the actor and the writer more space to explore. I feel that OTT has been a huge blessing for me. It allows your work to stay immortal because people can watch it anytime, and you can always go back and see your work. For me, OTT is truly a big blessing.

If you could change one thing in the industry, what would it be?

I want people to connect more with each other. Nowadays, it feels like people are not connecting enough. I believe we need to bring back the humanity and connection we had in the past. I think if we don’t lose ourselves in the moment while creating, we won’t be able to create good work. I want to start with myself and not expect others to change. We need to embrace humanity again.

You might already know that before Aashram, Aditi Pohankar was seen in Netflix’s She (2020), where her performance was greatly appreciated by the audience. She has also appeared in the Tamil film Gemini Ganesanum Suruli Rajanum.
