“Garudaa Music is a platform for new talent...” Sheykhar Ravjiani

Sheykhar Ravjiani of the duo Vishal-Shekhar, an Indian singer, music director, record producer, and actor, recently released the fourteenth song from his music company Garudaa Music. The name of the song is 'Ishq-e-Mareez'. With this song, Sheykhar is launching a new singer Zehlin. Ravjiani started his career in advertising. After that, he auditioned for the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and was selected. Then in 1999, he became a part of the Vishal-Shekhar duo. The pair created many Bollywood superhit songs and were judges on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 2007 and 2010. Ravjiani has also sung hit tracks like "Tujhe Bhula Diya", "Bin Tere" and "Meherbaan".

Garudaa Music: Unveiling the Fourteenth Melodic Gem 'Ishq-e-Mareez

You have given very versatile songs till now, and now you have launched your level, what would you like to say about it?

It is like a blessing for every musician that they can express their thoughts and emotions through music. The name of my record label is Garudaa Music, and in this, we bring such songs that are not related to any film, or that do not have any scene behind them, these are such songs that have come from someone's heart, someone's emotions. And I have had the opportunity to release fourteen such songs so far. Ishq-e-Mareez is the fourteenth song, which has been released by Garudaa Music. It feels great, I feel very happy that I have launched seventeen-year-old Zehlin with this song. I feel that every celebrated musician must promote new talent, and I am very happy that I have had the opportunity to do so.

You named your record label Garudaa, what is the reason behind it?

Garudaa is the vehicle of Lord Vishnu. I relate a lot to his qualities and specialty, his strength that is why I have named my music company Garudaa Music.

Coming to the idea of promoting new talent and taking such steps for it, is this related to your own experience and journey?

In 2007, when I was judging the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma, I saw that there is so much talent in our country. People used to come from different corners of the country and sang so well, the aim was to give them a platform. I also thank those channels which gave a platform to those children. When a child from a small village or a small town gets a big song and gets a name for himself, I feel very happy to see this. My Khan Saheb used to say that knowledge increases by sharing. I also feel that the more knowledge is shared, the more it grows. I consider myself lucky to have received such values.

You have also given offers to some contestants on the show Indian Idol.

Yes, and he fulfilled all the offers given to him. Raja Hassan was on Sa Re Ga Ma, we recorded the song with him also. Whatever promises have been made to whomever have been fulfilled. When you give someone a chance then not only their happiness but also the happy faces of their family tell you that you are walking on the right path. I think everyone's dreams should come true.

You have struggled a lot to reach this point in your career, recently in a press conference it was said that you also taught music to children online.

I am not a teacher, I am a mentor. There is a lot of difference between a mentor and a teacher. Teachers will teach you techniques, but mentors guide you and show you direction. There should be one person to tell what is right and what is wrong. I am very lucky to have mentors like my father and Jagjit Singh, who guided me. I had a lot of time during the pandemic, so I could meet all the children on Zoom. During the pandemic, the spirit of the children was also low, because they were not going to school, and everyone's classes were being held on Zoom from morning to evening. Music was something that gave him happiness. And I was very happy to see them happy.

It seems as if you have now become a habit of giving hit song after hit, everyone liked Pathan's music, but its craze has still not gone from the hearts of people, what would you like to say about it?

Besharam Rang was released last December, and Jhoome Jo Pathan was released in January this year. After these two songs, Garudaa Music was launched in February. The music of Fighter is being released this week. Back-to-back songs are going to be released. I can say that this year was a lot of fun.

Will fans get to see and hear that different style of Vishal-Shekhar in Fighter also?

Yes, of course, you will like it. The picture is very well made. I think the combination of film and song is very good. This is going to be fantastic.

If you want to tell me something about your upcoming projects?

As of now, back-to-back songs of Garudaa Music will be released in 2024.
