What was your first reaction after watching ‘Dhurandhar’?
I really liked the film—it felt very refreshing. More than anything, it was extremely touching. If you love your country and have patriotism in your heart, many scenes will shake you from within. I usually don’t watch films of this genre, but Dhurandhar hit me deeply.

‘Shararat’ is your first big dance number. Did you feel any fear or confusion?
Absolutely. I had never done a dance number before, especially in such a big film. I felt it was a challenge I should take up. As an actor, you should try different things. There was fear initially, but the rehearsals and shoot were a lot of fun. Choreographer Vijay Ganguly sir was extremely supportive. He clearly said that he wasn’t looking for perfect dancers—he wanted our personalities. He gave us the freedom to dance in our own way.

How was the hook step of ‘Shararat’ finalized?
We tried around 10 different hook steps, but the one that was finalized felt the most quirky, catchy, and different. The camera work, editing, and tilt angle played a big role in making it look larger-than-life and impactful.

What was the atmosphere like on set after the shoot wrapped up?
The entire set turned into a party. Aditya Dhar sir, Vijay Ganguly sir, the assistant choreographers, and the entire cast—everyone was dancing. Jasmine Sandlas and Madhubanti Bagchi were also there. After the shoot, we even ate pani puri. It truly felt like a post-pack-up party. (Krystle D'souza's first big film dance)

What would you like to say about singer Jasmine Sandlas, who has sung this beautiful song?
Jasmine is extremely talented. She can create a song just by sitting somewhere. Years ago, I used to play her song ‘Baddal’ on repeat in my car. When I first met her, I told her how much I loved her music. And today, we are sharing the same frame—it’s such a beautiful feeling.
Ayesha Khan is also part of this song. Did you feel any pressure or comparison with your co-performer?
Not at all. I have moved beyond comparisons. Everyone has their own space and their own sunlight. We both have different vibes and energies, which is exactly what the choreographer wanted. Even my mother said that we complement each other beautifully.

How do you see the massive social media viral trend around Akshaye Khanna’s dance?
This didn’t happen overnight. It’s a combination of the right time, right place, and destiny. He has worked consistently for years and proved himself through his work. No success comes in a single night—behind it lies years of struggle, patience, and consistency.
How big a role does social media play in giving talent recognition today?
In today’s time, social media has become a huge blessing. It not only gives you a platform to showcase your talent to the world but also connects you with a global audience while sitting anywhere. When used correctly, social media creates opportunities, builds recognition, and helps your voice reach people who might never have discovered you otherwise.

What was it like performing on stage with Ranveer Singh?
His energy transfers instantly. Even if you’re in a low phase, he lifts you up. I felt that even in a saree, I had to match his energy—and I did. That’s the Ranveer Singh energy.

You are being compared to Kareena Kapoor Khan. How do you react to that?
It’s a huge compliment for me. Kareena is an incredible actor—beautiful and immensely talented. I don’t see myself at her level, but being compared to her is a very special and beautiful feeling.

From 2007 to now, what is the biggest change you see in yourself?
The biggest change is in my language, grooming, and confidence. When I started, I didn’t even know Hindi properly. Today, after 17 years, when I look back, I feel proud of myself. I just want to say to that girl who was once full of fear and confusion—“I got you.”

What is the biggest lesson the industry has taught you?
The industry has taught me the importance of consistency, valuing time, and hard work. Along with talent, consistency is crucial here. If you’re not consistent, don’t respect time, or shy away from hard work, the industry doesn’t give you space to grow. You have to prove yourself every single day because success isn’t about achieving it once—it’s about sustaining it.
Which project gave you your identity?
The TV show ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ gave me recognition. It also gave me a wonderful sister-like bond with Nia Sharma.

TV or OTT—what do you feel closer to?
Television, because that’s where my journey began and where I got my identity.
Early morning shoot or late-night pack-up?
Late-night pack-up.
Which role do you wish you had played?
Priyanka Chopra’s role in ‘Fashion’.
