Television actress Niharika Chouksey, known for her roles in shows like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Faltu, and Aaina – Roop Nahin, Haqeeqat Bhi Dikhaye, is all set to return to the small screen with Zee TV’s new show Tumm Se Tumm Tak! In an exclusive conversation with Mayapuri, Niharika opened up about her character, the show’s unique storyline, her experience working with seasoned actor Sharad Kelkar, and how excited she is about her comeback.

Your fans have been waiting eagerly for your return. What would you like to say to them now that you're coming back?

I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for a year, but my fans were even more impatient than I was! I used to get messages every day—“Didu, when will you return? We miss you so much!” I kept telling them, “Be patient, good things take time.” And now I’m finally coming back from July 7, and I’m so happy that the wait is finally over—for both me and my fans.

The concept of this show is quite different, especially with the age gap dynamic. What was your first reaction when you heard the story?

Firstly, it’s my dream production house—LSD. I always wanted to work with Prateek sir. Zee TV was also my dream channel. When I heard about the character of Anu, I instantly felt it was me. She’s a simple girl full of dreams, who wants to fulfill her parents’ aspirations.

How has your experience been working with an experienced actor like Sharad Kelkar?

It’s truly a blessing to work with someone like him. The dedication and time he has given to the craft of acting is truly inspiring. And he has no airs of stardom whatsoever. Just like a tree full of fruits always bends—he’s exactly like that. You learn something new from him every day.

What makes this show special? What sets it apart from other serials? Why should viewers watch it?

This is an old-school love story—something rare in today’s times. The love between Anu and Aryavardhan (Arya) goes beyond society’s rule book. It’s not about age, it’s about emotional connection. That’s the beauty of it.

How will audiences relate to your character Anu? Is there anything that mirrors real life?

Anu is just like all of us—a girl from a small town, full of dreams. She wants to fulfill her parents’ dreams and make something of her own through hard work. Anu and I are exactly alike—simple, rooted in values, and ambitious.

The glimpses of the show’s music video are being loved. What was that experience like?

It was a lot of fun! As an actress, you dream of things like open hair, princess treatment, cinematic romance—and I got all that in this video. But believe me, the real magic lies in the show itself. The music video is just a teaser—the story has much more depth and beauty.

The title ‘Tumm Se Tumm Tak’ is also quite striking. What do you think about it?

The title says it all—Tumm Se Tumm Tak. It’s the journey of Anu and Arya that begins and ends with each other. Why and how? That’s something the audience will find out as the story unfolds.
