Poonam Dubey, Rajneesh Duggal & Aradhana on New Film Roles
- Poonam, tell us about your character.
Poonam- Saira Khan is a significant figure. It’s a battle for women’s rights. Many decisions are made on behalf of women, and many are imposed upon them.
- Is this character different from the roles you have played before?
Poonam- I haven’t played a role like this before, either in reel life or real life. It’s very different for me. I remember when my father narrated the story to me, it gave me goosebumps. It felt like I would learn a lot from it.
- How did you all feel when Subhash Ghai visited the set?
Poonam- It felt like a dream come true. The filmmaker whose movies you grew up watching and learned so much from, applauding you—there are no words to express how amazing it felt.
Rajneesh- It was a great honor for us that Subhash Ji visited our set. We grew up watching his movies. I really hope our hard work pays off and he applauds our film as well.
- You are surrounded by two beautiful women; what would you like to say?
Rajneesh- It’s a wonderful thing for me. But honestly, the film is really good and based on a real story. In the film, Poonam Ji and I are paired together, and I play her husband. I believe this is the first time I’m portraying such a role. I’m very excited about the film.
- How did you feel when the director shared the story and your role with you?
Rajneesh- Initially, I thought it was a negative role and wondered how I would play it. But then I saw it from Haneef's perspective and realized that his beliefs about his religion are absolutely justified.
- Playing an advocate in this film, how challenging was it for you?
Aradhana- I’d like to mention that our director, Swati Ma'am, has been a judge and made this decision. Our film is based on human rights. The focus is on justice and rights, regardless of gender, caste, or religion.
- How much courtroom and family drama can we expect in the film?
Aradhana- You will definitely see a lot of drama in the film. Wherever there’s a discussion about justice and rights, drama is inevitable. We will face challenges, but ultimately, our victory is certain.
- You’ve previously played negative roles; how do you feel about playing this role?
Aradhana- Yes, I played a lawyer in 'Lakhan Leela Bhargava,' which was a negative role. But in this film, my role is positive. I’m very happy to have the opportunity to work with Poonam Ji.
- The camera isn’t new to you, but this field is. What do you have to say about it?
Poonam- When I met my directors, I told them that I had forgotten everything. Now, I’m like wet clay. I’ll transform into whatever they envision Saira to be.
- How was the first day, first shoot for all of you?
Aradhana- I was extremely nervous, but thanks to divine blessings and teamwork, everything went smoothly.
Rajneesh- I think a bit of nervousness is natural. It feels great that our film has started. After this, we’ll travel to different cities, including Bhopal, and reach you all soon.
Poonam- I was very nervous and excited, and I think that’s how it should always be.
- What would you like to say to your audience?
Poonam- Please shower us with love, especially for Saira Khan.
Aradhana-This is a story of justice; please watch it as much as possible.
Rajneesh- Do watch our film.
Director Swati Chauhan shared that she has lived this story firsthand and always wished to enter direction. With the help of Karan Rajdan, her wish has come true. She emphasized her commitment to doing justice to the film.
Karan Rajdan mentioned that he is making a comeback after 20-22 years with this film. He feels they have a great star cast and that the film includes several significant roles beyond the main cast.
The film, based on a real-life case, is set to release in 2025.
