Television actor Samarth Jurel, who was seen in Bigg Boss 17, is currently part of Laughter Chefs Season 2. Along with that, he is also featured in the mythological show Budh dev, which is airing on the Hari Om platform. He plays the role of Yuvraj Budh, and in a recent interview with MayaPuri Magazine, he shared his thoughts about the show, his character, and his experience. Let's hear what Samarth had to say.
You are currently part of a new mythological show Budh dev, which airs on theHari Om platform. Could you tell us more about the show?
The show is called Budh dev, and I play the role of Budh dev, who is a planet. The show traces the journey of Budh dev from his childhood to becoming a planet. Initially, I thought I would be playing Gautam Buddha, but later I realized that it’s not about him. It’s about Budh dev, who turns into a planet, just like other planets in the solar system. The show covers his transformation into a planet, and I’m very thankful to the makers for choosing me for this role.
When you first got this show, what did you think about it?
Initially, I thought it would be about Gautam Buddha. Then I thought it might be related to Laughing Buddha. But later, I realized it’s about Budh dev, who turned into a planet. He was once a normal human being, living a life just like us. When I got the role, I was concerned that I might just be delivering dialogues and not having much of a presence. But that’s not the case. My character is quite human. The show depicts his struggles and how he attained knowledge.
Could you tell us more about Budh dev's family background in the show?
Budh dev’s biological father and his real father were different. I was really surprised when I found this out. I wondered if such things happened in ancient times as well. Budh dev has a strong dislike for Chandradev, and this relationship will also be shown in the series.
How challenging is it to work in mythological shows?
It’s very challenging because you need to infuse emotions into your dialogues in a way that feels authentic. It requires a lot of time and understanding to do justice to these roles. But if you get the hang of it, you can perform well.
What do you think viewers expect from you in this show?
I don’t expect anything because when you have no expectations, you often get great feedback. However, I believe the audience will enjoy this show.
Apart from this show, you’re also part of a cooking show. You’re receiving a lot of love there. What do you have to say about that?
Yes, the audience is liking me a lot on that show. I am partnered with Abhishek, and we’re cooking together. The contestants in the show don't fight or argue, and I feel like there should be more shows like this.
Earlier, you had a rivalry with Abhishek, but how is your relationship with him now?
Right now, I wouldn’t call us friends, but I’ll say that people should get to know each other so well that they can predict the kind of response they’ll get when they say something. I believe that’s the true essence of friendship.
What is your dream project?
I don’t have a specific dream project. I take up whatever comes my way and put my heart into it.
What would you like to say to the viewers about Budh dev?
I would say that I’ve worked really hard in this show. Please do watch it. It airs twice a week at 7 PM on the Hari Om app.
